Let's just say we don't have sports in the Commonwealth in the '20/'21 school year.
Let's just say the entire 2021 senior class, from Adair County through Woodford County, files a class-action Disenfranchisement lawsuit against the KHSAA on the basis of them not getting to play was detrimental for them not being offered a scholarship. Not just for football... we are talking all KHSAA sports.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying..... this may be coming to a circuit court room near you.

I have seen slugs and snails that had more legs to them than this lawsuit would have in court.
I think we can all agree what is happening sucks hose water, and we all want to see sports, but from a legal standpoint there is basically little to no ramifications for a lawsuit to hold water.

What are they suing for? The right to infect their children with coronavirus?

I am for giving them another year unless they are above the age limit.

Truth is opposite of this post, if anything, KHSAA has to be concerned if they go against the directives of health professionals by allowing sports seasons and students start getting sick, the hammer, the shark, and every other slobbering ambulance chasing attorney alive will be suing the KHSAA and it's leadership for acting with negligence by going against directives issued by the health department in the county and state.
It's basically a stand off - everyone is waiting for someone else to take the blame for cancelling things, watch the NCAA as they start to cancel seasons so will high schools.
Fact.

I say cancel this school year for Schools and Colleges for '20-'21 and start back '21-'22 in the grade you would be in this year. Yea I know it's dumb, but it's a thought

The Kids don't really get sick from this virus. And we now know that a kid transmitting it is very hard to do.

We don't KNOW that.
Actually we KNOW little to nothing. We are going by the best guess from the so called experts.

I agree! I don't think they know 25% of what this virus is all about. Or if they do, they are not releasing it to the public. First they said masks wouldn't help, then everyone needs to wear them. It changes like the weather in Kentucky. But one thing I do believe, just because it makes sense, the high school age group would have a way better survival rate than the rest of us. If they could get enough info, and say this virus is no different than the flu for them, I say go ahead and have a season. Broadcast it if need be, but have one. Just because we don't see cancelations because of the FLU. But I highly doubt they would ever come out and say that because everything is so political with this.
But I don't think we'd ever see just pushing it back a year like someone said. Too many moving parts to all of this. You'd have to get HS, college, and the pro's all on the same page. Most of the time, they aren't on the same page with themselves.
My opinion, and its going to sound like I'm cold hearted or don't care, and I do care, and value human lives. But, at some point we just got to give it gas and see where it takes us. Are people going to lose their lives? YES. But at what point do we just go? I've kept and eye on the Biomedical industry and pharmaceutical industry, we are a long way off from a working and safe vaccine. We cant just hide in our hole the whole time, because time keeps going for everyone except the Lord. But if our nation and leaders think we are just going to hide through this until a vaccine is ready, our nation will never recover. We'll never get the possible memories back from our kids etc. so lets goooo!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be surprised to see players (attempt to) transfer from states that have canceled football to states that will be playing in some form.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying I could see families trying to do this.

Bingo.
If this is true, it would be up there with some of the most ridiculous lawsuits in history. No one is being "disenfranchised" by not having high school sports. I love watching high school sports, and I have kids that play, but come on. School exists for the purpose of learning, sports are considered extracurricular for a reason.
If someone actually files this suit, I have a feeling they're going to be out a lot of money for lawyer's fees.

I thought about this as well. Tennessee is on the verge of closing the rest of the season and I believe Ohio is in the same boat. However, I do not know about Missouri, West Virginia, Virginia? Any word on those states?

They cancelled fall sports. But there’s an option to be voted on at a later date to move sports seasons around and play them in shorter sessions. So there’s a shot football isn’t cancelled, but just pushed back.

Why didnât the spring sport seniors of 2020 file a lawsuit against KHSAA? Because they didnât get to play their final season. Craziest post I have ever seen on this site.

No way this would go anywhere. First and foremost KHSAA is almost broke as it is, if they win then congrats you each get about 10cents a piece as your portion of the settlement.
