^^I dispute this 100%
Groceries at Wal-Mart are cheaper because of the volume that they buy and the purchase price negotiations. Most of the groceries are grown here in America. I don't know the statistics about the effect Wal-MArt has in the American Farmer but I would like to know more. As the ole sayin' goes,"If you dig deep enough you'll find lots of dirt".
Kroger is just as competetive as Wal-Mart on pricing.
I'd like to see a farmer who contracts with Wal-Mart weigh in on this one.

Krogers aren't scattered in nearly as many places, especially around here, that Wal-Marts are.

misinformed? Thats hilarious. Go ahead and tell me how great it is working at walmart. So I can tell you how brainwashed you have become from working there. And while your at it, find where I said in my post where I said I shop at Food City to save money. You wont. Anywhere you shop is going to stick it to you on prices. Thats how they stay in business. Walmart keeps their prices lower than FC because of sheer volume. So no, im not misinformed. I just would rather spend my hard earned money somewhere else. And Im sure walmart wont miss me. They wouldnt miss anybody anywhere. Would I miss it if something were to happen and they go out of business? Absolutely not. Yes it is killing the workforce. And while I was being so misinformed. Inform me, what happened with the illegal immigrants they had working there nationwide?? Since I am so misinformed, correct where they got in trouble nationwide for using illegal immigrants. Since I am so misinformed, tell me, what AM I hearing on TV. Since you have all the answers.

BTW, Ive worked at both, Food City and Wal-Mart and believe me when I tell you that shopping at Wal-Mart could save you over 20% on your groceries. If you think for one minute Food City isnt sticking it to you on prices then my friend you are wrong. My opinion on all of this, Dont shop at Wal-Mart if you feel its killing american factories, find you some place to shop where the prices are fair and the assortment of products are abundant. I dont think Wal-Mart will miss you though.

Actually i did a price comparision and it came up the other way around. I shoped at walmart one week and then at food city the other. I switched it up every week. I did this for two months. I saved all my reciepts and bought almost the same things every week. It came out where i was saving 7 to 12 dollars a week at food city. i guess it just depends on what is on your grocery list.

Me being a full-time college student trust me I have shopped around for the cheapest prices when it comes to groceries. Keep in mind there isn't a Food City in Richmond but there is a Wal-mart, Kroger, EW James & Sons and a Save-A-Lot. I couldn't find anything I needed in Save-A-Lot but I did in the other three stores. Kroger was the most expensive that I found, Wal-mart fit my budget perfectly and then EW James & Sons was the most inexpensive I found. However, due to other things that I need such as school supplies you could call it I find it much easier to do all my shopping at Wal-mart so that I can get everything I need in one store instead of going to Kroger for this and Wal-Mart for the rest of it.

Here are the marketing techniques that Wal-Mart and other large chains use to get you to buy more.

Kinda off topic but has anyone seen the episode of South Park when a Wal Mart is built there? The heart of Wal Mart is in the electronics departmeant!

^^^You can't stop the Walmart unless you destroy the heart, which is somewhere in the Audio/ Video section.

I haven't been in a Wal Mart in about 5 years.

I rarely go to Wal-Mart, I can't even remember the last time I went.

My life would be very inconvenienced if I couldn't run to Wal-Mart when I needed food, electronics, garden supplies, toys, printing photos, basically anything but clothes.

I hate going to Wal-Mart and actively avoid it as best I can. I go there about every 3-4 months to get my oil changed, and that's about it. I grocery shop at Food City, and if I need other stuff, I try one of the other ''Marts" in town.
