This may be a few weeks too early but hey lets get this started! After a couple years of rebuilding, the Bluebirds are back and ready to take on the team from Park Hills. I have a really good feeling about the way the Birds are playing that they will be the ones to stop the win streak and knock off the boys from park hills. Coach W will shutdown their run game and I am not sure they have an answer for the Birds passing attack.
Looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts!

I like your enthusiasm for your team, and I agree the Birds are improving and heading in the right direction. That is the good news. The bad news for Bluebird fans is Cov Cath is still light years ahead of you. Highlands may very well stop the streak, but it won't be this year.

The rivalry never left. Its not a rivalry again just because you think you can win now. I also don't think you will win.

Cov Cath is still 3 tds better than the birds.

I think this game will go one of two ways. Either an monumental upset by the birds or a straight up beat down by the colonels. Nothing in between. The question is, how good is highlands defense? Are they better than Columbus desales?

I think Covington Catholic puts a running clock on the Birds this year.

This will by far be the best game in NKY, come one come all! You people who think it will be a running clock or a 3 td game or more, just don't know football. Sorry, I have seen both of these teams play and they are going to be ready for each other. They match up very well.

I will say that I have seen Cov Cath play in person once. I have NOT seen Highlands play in person this season. I do know that Highlands has improved over the years.

With that said, "Lesser teams have done greater things." That is why they "Play the Game."
Cov Cath is LEGIT. They may not be as strong as last year, but they haven't missed much of a beat. McGinness legit. Coldiron legit. Maher legit. Defense legit.
The only team that can beat Cov Cath is Cov Cath.
I wish the Bluebirds the best against Cov Cath, but when you look at NKY football overall, it is less than desirable outside of CC, Highlands and Beechwood. Unfortunately, that latter of the two aren't even in the same UNIVERSE where CC is this year.
I may be wrong, but CC should determine the score in this one.
Hit me up when it is final. I hope I "Eat Crow" but I would prepare your napkin and utensils for a nice Bluebird "sam-wich."
Running clock if Eviston wants to "rub it in" for previous outcomes.
Lord knows, Weinrich is living the sins of Mueller.

Highlands has improved this year but no match for cov Cath. Not even close

Blue Birds are not back on that level

Birds don’t win this game but I don’t see a running clock. Birds defense much improved. Offense not back to where it needs to be yet, not impressed with any of RB’s and WR’s just not dependable as birds good years. HHS looks to continue to improve next year, not sure what covcath loses or has coming up. Should return to some nice matchups next few years.

Scott Co had no problem. That would have been a running clock if weather didn’t stop that game. Can Scott Co beat Cov Cath? I’d like to see them hang with Cov Cath. I just don’t see if. Scott Co exposed that 3-5 defense and CC can too

The Cch/highlands match up is definitely interesting. The first game is completely irrelevant. The second game could be one for the ages. Thatâs all that matters really.

It will be an upset if Covington Catholic fails to put a running clock on Highlands in either a regular season or a playoff game this year. The Colonels are much better than Scott County and all that saved Highlands from a running clock against the Cardinals was a thunderstorm.
If Dale Mueller were coaching Covington Catholic this season, they would likely score 70 against Highlands, but the Colonel's coaching staff will probably have the class to resist the temptation of running the score up that high. Highlands would need to play down to 1A this season to be a state title contender.

Running clock for CCH. Highlands cannot stop anyone on defense, that has anything that looks like an offense. The defense does very unsound things from alignment stand point and just relies on their effort and athleticism to stop teams. This is what Weinrich has always done in the past, even when they won all the state titles under Mueller. Back then they seemed to always struggle to stop teams but it didn't matter because the offense was an unstoppable machine that steamrolled opponents.
When they face teams that have similar athleticism on the offensive side of the ball, the offense puts up big numbers. Guess what, CCH has better athleticism on the offensive side of the ball than HHS does on defense.
