I believe I would have put Raceland at #2 because they earned it. Going to be a great year of football just hope for an injury free year for all but as always GO PANTHERS!!!
I was surprised to see KCD so low on the list especially since it was argued that they were the true #2 last season.

Yes Orange Blaze I definitely had that discussion with one of Beechwoodâs followers. I wasnât trying to be a butt about it because I donât really think you go by scores because it can work against any team when they have a bad night. My opinion was Raceland was #2 because that is the way it played out. I may get some blow back on this Beechwood was definitely the best team last year but I also watched the game and I donât think Raceland play to their potential. Not saying they could have beat Beechwood but it could have been a better game. None of the teams from the east could have beat them. Just was expressing my opinion but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I agree and there were definitely some things that we could have done better to at least keep the score respectable but it is what it is. I donât wanna totally hijack Paintsvilleâs thread so letâs talk about them a little. It seems like the Paintsville faithful donât think this will be a team that has been as good as theyâve been the past 4 years or so. Iâm just curious to know why? I think they will be a tough out again this year and are definitely not a team to be overlooked.

Paintsville has athletes, but we are lacking work horses in key positions that weâve had in the last couple of seasons. Kash, Kent, Tanner all put points on the board for us. Hard to replace that year after year, but we will adapt one way or the other. Defense should be pretty good, and there are definitely play makers on offense but we will need some kids to step up and take over to truly compete for the east. This year is an interesting year to observe how Chirico adapts to losing so much in a Graduating class. Should be a fun season, good luck to all.

I agree with you swampdonkey the defense is going to be very good and offensively they have a lot of athletes. With the schedule they have they will be a tuff game for anybody but come the time for playoffs they will be a top contender. Good luck to you and the Tigers but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I think their defense should be good. They lost Tyrese which controlled one side of the D line and he had lil bro at linebacker backing him up. Which line backer core should be one of the best in single A. Defensive back think most of last years team returns. Depth at Line backer and defensive back should be okay.
Offense line Iâm hearing is a little weak and in depth. Last years team donât believe had a primary running back. Receivers should be good. QB spot havenât heard any news. I think itâs still up in the air. They may struggle on the Offense side maybe see a new style of offense from them.
Pikeville, Hazard, Williamsburg and Raceland are away games by the schedule Iâve seen. But playoffs is when it counts.
Hope they have a good season.

Paintsville could legitimately be 5-4after the regular season and still be considered a top 4-5 Class A team.
Fred Douglas
Pikeville
Hazard
Raceland
All on the road.

I can't you're playing at Frederick Douglas...….. They have the best facilities and best players from here in Lexington and even some from Eastern KY.

I was confused about that as well. Nothing against Paintsville but I canât understand what a school that size would gain from playing a 1A school that in all likelihood they will put a running clock on.

I donât think it will be a running clock but last year Pikeville played Belfry and had a running clock put on them. Coach Mac made the quarterback change after that game and the team changed. They were 1 and 4 after the first 5 games and like PHS said they could be 5 and 4 at the end of regular season so was Pikeville. Things can change and they did and with what Paintsville has it could happen. One never knows thatâs why we play the games. Itâs going to be a test of these young men which one comes out of the east. Raceland is the champ of the east right now but the others are going to try and knock them off. So good luck to all hope for an injury free year for all but as Always GO PANTHERS!!!

In regards to Raceland, I think we should have a good season but Iâm a little concerned about some of the preseason hype weâve been getting. I look for this regular season to be much like last year with a 7-3 or 6-4 finish due to playing a tough schedule. I think the schedule should prepare us for the playoffs but we will be battle tested for sure!

In the East itâs really a 4 team race but thatâs why we play the game. My 1 would be pikeville just due to there getting good players from all over pike county plus another adjoining county. Heard some say roster of almost 60. Then my 2 would be Raceland i think they have to score 3 plus TDS a game to win My 3 would be Paintsville I think they can pull out the close ones. My 4 Hazard the playoff pikeville game last season was a great one no doubt if Smith kid RB wasnât hurt itâs a different season for them.

I agree with you to much hype is not good for these young man but playing a tuff schedule and getting those losses if they do brings them back down to reality. Going to be a great year in the east but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I agree itâs going to be a 4 team face but me personally put Raceland #1 because they earned it. To me the other 3 can be put all together. I think with all that everyone has coming back itâs going to be who executes and wants it the most who wins the east this year. Good luck Eagleland but as alwaysGO PANTHERS!!!

They earned it. The rest of 2-4 is a tossup until the games are played right now. But I’m biased, so I believe at the end of the year, Pikeville will be the better team. I hope I’m right, anyway.
But to another point you made, each school gets players from “all over”. It’s a small point you made and I’m not thinking you made it to be disrespectful or anything, but Paintsville has players from Floyd and even Lexington, I’m sure Raceland has some from elsewhere, Hazard has some Knott players (I think it was Knott), etc. it’s a small point, but aggravating to me that people keep bringing it up. 95% of our team probably has been together since elementary school.

Haha most of the players on Paintsville's roster transferred in from other schools.
