Morgan - Ashland
First round matchup between teams with 2 of the best records in the region. Morgan is 25-5. Ashland is 22-5. Ashland played a tougher schedule than Morgan so its hard to compare. Ashland was 15-1 before Jan 9th, but were 7-4 after their 10 day layoff coming back Jan 19th. They appeared to tinker with their lineups during that time and it hasn't worked. They are not the team they were early on. We could be looking at an upset in game 1.

Raceland - Bath
Another matchup of teams with comparable records. Raceland is 16-11. Bath is 16-14. The Rams beat Bath by 5 and lost to Bath by 7 in the regular season so this one should be a war.

Boyd - Elliott
Boyd comes in the favorite to win at 26-6. Elliott would have been the favorite this season if Spencer had not left, but they have an 11-13 record. Elliott lost to Boyd by 15 and 8 in the regular season, but its hard to count out the 3 time defending region champs. They have ended Boyd's season each of those years on this floor in Morehead.

Rowan - Lewis
Rowan is 16-14. Lewis is 18-14. Lewis beat them by 6 in the regular season. Thacker and Hampton may be the 2 best tournament coaches in the field who get the most out of what they've got. Can Mr. March come through on the last day of February? This will be a tight game.

I think Ashland should win the 16th. It would be nice to see Ashland become a basketball power in the region again.
