The speed limit on rural portions of Kentucky interstate highways and parkways will soon increase to 70 miles-per-hour.
Governor Fletcher signed a bill, changing the speed limit, into law today. The higher speed limit won't kick in until after engineering studies are completed to determine which stretches of highway will have to remain at 65 miles-per-hour.
The governor says that data from other states and the conditions
for implementation give him confidence that there will be no sacrifice of safety, State Senator Brett Guthrie says the proposal to increase the speed limit was studied carefully. Guthrie is chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.

That's pretty cool. It will help getting home from Lexington and other places in a better time without having to worry so much about a ticket.

BJ, we will but when the limit is 70 and you are going 75 then you are less likely to get pulled. 65 mph speed limit and going 75 mph depends on if quota has been met that month. The speed limit around here is really slow everywhere. Between Pikeville and Prestonsburg shouldn't be 55.
