How many teams from the mountains have won a state tourney?

South Laurel won it but I think that they were still in the 12th at that time.

Did Hazard win one? I know that made it to the final 4 the year Pulaski won it but not sure if they have won one.

Hazard has won the Regional tournament 28 times. They have been to State more than probably any other team in this area. Hazard won their first Regional tournament in 1925.
They won their last Regional tournament in 2006. Hazard High School has won the Sweet 16 twice...in 1932 and 1955. They won the All A State Championship in 2004. In March, 1979 the Sweet 16 was played in Rupp Arena for the very first time. Who played the first Sweet 16 game ever played in Rupp Arena? The Hazard Bulldogs and Pulaski Co.

In 1956 a tiny school from Knott Co. won the Regional tournament and went to state to represent the mountains. Carr Creek defeated Whitesburg 76-46 to earn the 14th Region Championship. Carr Creek defeated Henderson 72-68 to bring the state title back to the mountains. Even tho they were from Knott Co. they were paraded down Main St. in Hazard and given a hero's welcome.
