Bryan (TN) 67 Union College 58

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College got off to a solid start, but a strong second half sent visiting Bryan (Tenn.) to the 67-58 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victory on Thursday.

The loss drops Union to 7-8 overall and 4-6 in the AAC, while Bryan improves to 11-5 and 8-2 in league play.

The Bulldogs started things off well, owning a 17-11 lead after first and registering a 32-28 halftime lead. Union led as much as 11 points during the second, but a 11-0 run pulled Bryan even at 26-all with 2:48 remaining. Union responded by scoring six of the final eight points of the frame. Jenna Mills (SR/Barbourville, Ky.) drained a 3-pointer to give the Bulldogs the four-point, halftime cushion.

Union maintained its lead for much of the third, upping its lead to 41-35 following a pair of Chariss Wilson (FR/Paris, Ky.) free throws at the 4:38 mark. Yet, the Lady Lions closed the quarter out on a 14-3 run to seize a 49-44 advantage heading into the fourth. During a 9-0 stretch, Bryan sank three 3-pointers with Deandra Luna bury two as it grabbed the lead for good.

Bryan did not let up in the final frame, leading by as much as 12 en route to the 67-58 win.

Wilson paced Union with 11 points, while Logan Calvert (FR/Louisville, Ky.) followed with 10.

For Bryan, Amber Levi netted a game-high 25 points, and Luna and Shayla Ludy followed with 12 points apiece.

Up Next
Union travels to Point (Ga.) on Saturday for another conference tilt. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
