BUIES CREEK, N.C. â The Morehead State football team had a tough time stopping host Campbell's rushing game Saturday, and the result was a 38-0 setback to the Camels at Barker-Lane Stadium.
MSU slipped to 1-1 in the Pioneer Football League and 2-3 overall, while Campbell moved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
"I thought we actually played well defensively early on, but our offense was just not good today," said head coach Rob Tenyer. " We have a lot of things to fix."
The Camels chalked up 460 rushing yards and had three 100-yard gainers. Quarterback Daniel Smith also threw for a pair of touchdowns and rushed for 152 yards. Running back Montel Goods carried the ball 27 times for 193 yards and three scores.
Morehead State quarterback Lawson Page finished with 184 yards on 17 completions but was intercepted twice. Wideout Jarin Higginbotham, who ranks in the top 10 in the nation in yards per catch, hauled in five catches for 95 yards.
Freshman safety Starr Hutcherson, who made his first career start, came up with a career-best 11 total tackles.
Campbell led 17-0 at the half. The hosts had touchdown drives of 13 plays, 12 plays, 10 plays and nine plays.
Morehead State returns home to face Butler on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

This was a tough game to watch. MSU has showed us so far this season they don't travel well. They need to change their away game mojo and I'm not sure what that looks like.
Looking forward to a good game against Butler this weekend in Morehead to hopefully get them back on a good foot....
GO EAGLES!
