Eastern Kentucky @ Austin Peay 10/4
#1
The calendar says it's October and that means it's time for conference play on the football field. Beginning this Saturday, the Eastern Kentucky University football team plays seven straight weeks against OVC foes. First up is a road trip to Austin Peay with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET.

Saturday's game can be seen for FREE on the OVC Digital Network.

The No. 18 Colonels (4-0, 1-0 OVC) are one of nine FCS teams remaining with an undefeated record. If Eastern happens to defeat Austin Peay, it will mark just the ninth time in program history that the football team has started its season 5-0. The EKU offense has produced at least 500 yards of offense in three of its first four games, including 533 yards in its most recent outing at UT Martin on Sept. 20.

Austin Peay (0-4, 0-1) has faced a very challenging schedule to start its season. This will be the Govs' third game against a ranked FCS opponent. Austin Peay has lost to both No. 14 Chattanooga and No. 22 Illinois State. APSU has lost 10 straight league games since defeating Tennessee Tech on Nov. 17, 2012.

Eastern is 41-5 all-time against Austin Peay, but has lost its last two trips to Clarksville. In those two losses, the Colonels turned the ball over seven times to just once for APSU. Last year at home, EKU piled up 321 rushing yards on the way to a 38-3 victory.

Storylines
--After failing to produce a turnover in the opener, EKU has notched 13 turnovers in its last three games, including four against UT Martin on Sept. 20. Six Colonels have notched an interception. Junior DB #Stanley Absanon# leads Eastern Kentucky with two interceptions and five pass break-ups.

--EKU's offense already has more big plays (35 yards or more) through four games (13) than it was able to produce the entire 2013 season (nine). The Colonels have scored touchdowns on nine of those 13 plays this year. Against UT Martin on Sept. 20, Eastern tallied three plays greater than 65 yards that went for scores.

--The Colonels are 12-2 following 'open' weeks since 2000. Eastern Kentucky has won 12 in a row following an open weekend. EKU defeated Tennessee Tech following its 2013 open date by a score of 24-10.

Is the OVC generlly a high scoring league? We attended the Murray and Jacksonville St. game this past Saturday and it was up and down the field all night long. I felt sorry for the defenses!

I forgot to mention my post above was taken from http://www.ekusports.com.

EKU should be able to handle Peay without too much trouble. Hopefully they don't get caught looking forward to the Eastern Illinois game next week. I think the Colonels roll 49-7.
