Shelby Valley Football

Ive read where some folks are unhappy because Saunders yelled at some kid and mom and dad made the brother quit...Personally I dont like the man but thats because of reasons of my own,as a coach he"s the best thing thats ever been to Valley and if people will leave him alone in time youll have a good winning program..He knows the game,he knows how to get it outta the kids and football aint supposed to be nice....if you cant stand for jr. to get yelled at when he messes up they have a soccer team overt here dont they?Get off his arse and support him because you wont getta a replacement that will touch what he can do for them..Asa far as all the Greg Newsome lovers, anybody can be dominate when you play 14-15 yr olds against 11-12 yr ols..Varsity is a even playing field they have all grown up..

I agree he is what Valley needs for a coach and if they can't take a little critisim and a little yelling then they don't need to play. I've been screamed and cussed at. I even had one coach tell my friend he made him want to go get drunk and drive his truck off of a f****** cliff. I would love to have played for Coach Saunders.

WOW!! thats pretty deep.

If people will leave coach Saunders alone and let him do his job, he will turn the program around.... Just wait and see.....Sometimes it takes a little fire under your butt to get you going

I thought he was a good play calling coach when we played them. This is what this SV program needs and he will have this team going on all cylinders come next season. They may get the 2 seed next season.

I agree if you can't take critism you don't need to be on the feild. The parents shouldn't be in the coach's business either. However i never think the coaching staff should cus or verbally abuse their players. I think if they can't lead without that nonsense than their not leaders in the first place. Yelling is needed sometimes though. I played for one of the most passionate coaches in the state. The man gives all he has to his players and the game. I never heard him say one bad word or negative comment to the players. Yelling and criticize he did(constructively). That man is Jim Matney.

I played for a man who never said a single curse word in all 4 years when he was my head coach. I remember one time he said, "Boys you've got my by the nuts and you're just a turnin'".....lol, then he apologized to us for about 3 weeks day in and day out. I don't believe cursing should ever be used in the direction of a football player, they need to be tough...yes, but there are other ways to do that. That's what strength and conditioning are for, those 2-a-days in the summer, Oklahoma drill, and the list could go on and on. However, when I got to college and played I don't think there was a single practice that didn't go by without a coach droppin' F bombs or G.(and you know the rest) atleast 50-60 times.

Well when you get caught up in the game its hard not curse at someone, because you so into the game.

Regardless of getting caught up in the game there really is no excuse for it. I can see your point, but what is that teaching the players??? When you face adversity say a few words and that will make it better? Lead by example...don't run your mouth, shut up and play football...whatever happens, happens because all you can do is give it your all. Live to play another day.

Football doesn't not equal profanity. You can be completely into games and still lead your team like it needs to be led. Again, Coach Matney is one of the most passionate coaches. Runs up and down the sideline the whole game but you will never hear him curse the children. If your can't lead by example than your not a leader.
