Quote:Florida and Kentucky provided a thrilling triple overtime game that didnât disappoint fans, unless, of course, youâre Mark Stoops and the Big Blue Nation.
The play in question happened in overtime with Kentucky winning 27-20, and Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel just got â or so it seemed â the snap off and hit Demarcus Robinson for the would-be tying touchdown on fourth down. Florida went on to win and the rest was history.
Stoops was visibly upset over the no-call, and the University of Kentucky requested an explanation from the Southeastern Conference. The SEC released a statement:
âAt the request of the University of Kentucky, consistent with SEC protocol, the conference office reviewed the fourth down play in the first overtime of the Kentucky-Florida game and has determined the officials applied the proper mechanics and guidelines that are in place to determine when a flag should be thrown for delay of game,â the statement read. âThe back judge is responsible for delay of game calls. The procedure for the back judge is for his eyes to stay on the clock when it nears zero. When the clock hits zero, he immediately looks from the clock to the ball. If the ball is moving, there is no delay of game. If the ball is stationary, a delay of game penalty is called.â

Penalty or not, the playcall by Florida wouldn't have changed. Big mess up is coverage called by coaches not to double team the guy who burnt us all night.

This young wildcat team impressed me a lot. This game will either be a fire ignited or it will take away all of their spirits. Lets hope that it is a fire ignited in this young team, only time will tell. I am anxious to see what the future holds for this team.

If Kentucky turns into a top NCAA football team I think we know from how crazy the Big Blue Nation is with the basketball team that we will fill the stands every year. I think he stays! Now if he builds it up and does decide to go in 3 to 5 years all the top coaches will give Kentucky a look now after they see the pasion of the fans and the willingness of the higher ups to pay the coach and improve the facilities.
I hope you are correct!! The BBN ALREADY supports football to the max; they're just looking for a decent team to support!! AND the facilities ARE being renovated (thanks to some coal severance money), as we speak. I don't know if Stoops is THAT good, or if he is just monumentally better than Joker!!!

Well, he DID come from there, didn't he?? I would really hate to lose him at this point in time!!

I will be happy to feed you crow, Negative Nancy!!

Edit: After searching, it looks like FL would have had one more play, with a 4th and 12.
I think your question has never been clearly answered. I always was under the impression that if the ball was snapped BEFORE the play clock got to zero, then it was a legitimate play. However, that was clearly NOT what the football moderators said. They replayed that tape over and over again, and said that the ball had to be in possession of the QB before the play clock got to zero. It wasn't! Now, I really hate those guys because they watch the same thing I do, then make a million a year to explain to me what I just saw! LOL But that IS what they said.

Lot's harder to make 4th and 12 than it is 4th and 7 :HitWall::HitWall:

Granny bear he was the ass coach at FSU. UK give him a head coaching job. UK has always be a stepping stone. Even when UK got a share of the national title back in the 1950's. That coach then went to Texas A&M. Then he left there for Bama. He won 6 titles there.

During this game it became clear to me that UK finally has SEC talent on both sides of the ball. The impact of the True freshman was huge. I have read a few post were some people see UF as a bad team, UF is a very good defensive team with a lot of 5 star talent. They are loaded with NFL draft picks. They are not the best offensive team but they are clearly in the hunt for the SEC East title. As far as UK goes they now have players that are difficult to match up with talent wise. UK now has team speed that must be respected. If the UK coaching staff can get the same effort out of this young group every game, they will win more than just one SEC game. I have been impressed with the play of Pat Towles. For the first time in a very long time UK may have the best QB in the SEC East. Teams must respect his feet as well as his arm, plus he seems to understand what being a QB is all about. I look for UK to win a game against one of the big name SEC teams. If I was picking one right now it would be SC. The "Old Ball Coach" was able to out fox Mark Richt once again IMO Richt s nowhere near the football coach as Mark Stoops.

I've got a good feeling that Stoops will be the next head coach at Florida

If this comes true, I hope we don't slide like Vandy:igiveup: A team that was clearly on the way up....Franklin goes to PSU, then Vandy gets embarrassed by Temple then barely escapes UMASS.

I really thought this was the year during the fourth quarter. I guess I should have known better.

I know what you mean, but don't forget, we were playing at the swamp!
That's pretty intimidating for any team.

I think Flordia is way over rated! They have given up over 1100 yards in the last two weeks
