If you were only to look at the final score you would figured this was just another easy blowout, but if you were there you would know that with 9:19 left in the third it was Montgomery County, who had the lead.
And with 10:33 left in the game it was still a six point game with the Colonels leading.
Bourbon County looked to jump out to and early lead on their opening drive but a fumble by Brent Holman at the Indians three yard line was recovered by the Indians Jared Johnson, with 11:04 left in the opening quarter.
Just a few seconds later the Indians would find themselves down, 2-0 caused by Intentionally grounding the ball in the end zone by, Art Walker.
The Indians came within a split second of picking off a pass thrown by Clay Bolin, but Matthew Purvis could not hold onto the ball. A punt followed one play later, so their was no damage done on the drop.
7:36 showed on the clock when Art Walker was picked off by Dequantae Allen. Walker was hit just as he tried to get the pass of and this caused the pick.
On fourth and eleven with 6:30 showing on the clock the Colonels elected to go for it and that decision would have been a good one, but Bolin overthrew Chandler Thomas, who was opened.
Walker dropped back to pass at the 5:30 of the quarter but before he could get the pass off he was sacked by Edgar Deluna and Dalton Williams. The Colonels defensive line looked very quick all game long.
The Colonels near misses continued on their next drive when Bolin threw a nice pass to Kyle Hodges, but Hodges who was wide opened could not hold onto the ball. This caused a punt with 3:23 left.
The Indians offense could not get anything going on their next drive so with 2:20 left they lined up for the punt. On the play the ball was snapped to Keiton young, who threw a pass that was not close to anyone who was opened and this gave the ball back to the Colonels.
On fourth and two with 26.3 seconds left in a very long first quarter the Colones faced fourth and two. They elected to go for it but the Indians defense was up to the task as they got a nice play from Young and Mason Gooch. The combo stopped Holman short of the first down marker.
Just seventeen seconds into the 2nd quarter the Indians faced a third and long. Walker, who started a little bit shaky had slowing started getting things together and it show big on the 3rd down play. He dropped back to pass and connected on a long gainer to Braxton Hopkins.

Walker and his receivers looked to have gotten on the same page after some early confusion. This showed at the 9:35 mark of the quarter, when Walker would hook up with Zack Centers for a twenty yard gain all the way to the Colonels two yard line.
The 13 play 97 yard penalty infected drive game to a close with a one yard touchdown run by, Joe Chism. Chism would show he is multi talented on the football field wen he connected with Jared Johnson on a two point conversion pass.

A little over a minute later Mr. Holman gave the stadium field crowd some of his greatness, when he took a simple hand off and galloped for a sixty yard score, on his way to pay dirt he ran over one would be tackler and did not lose a step while doing so. With 4:45 showing on the big clock the Colonels, DeQuantae Allen stuck a mighty hit on Chism after a completed pass causing a four yard loss on the play.
A fumble by Hill was picked up by teammate Billy Orcutt, who picked a chunk of yards and a first down. 1:46 was left giving the Colonels plenty enough time to score again.
From where I was setting it appeared Jared Johnson of the Indians tipped away a pass causing a incomplete pass, with 1:33 left in the half.
Bolin would be taken down by the trio of Colton Miller, Chase Parker and Gooch for a short loss, with 1:04 remaining in the quarter.
on fourth and fourteen and 22.5 seconds left in the half the Colonels called a running play that went for a short loss when, Johnson and Brian Wagers got to Bolin.
One minute into the second half Walker would be sacked by the Colonels Shelby Jackson for a seven yard loss.
Walker hooked up with Chism for a seventy eight yard gain at the 10:31 mark of the third quarter. Chism was caught from behind negating what looked like a for sure score. In looking back on this one that one play seemed to change the momentum of the Indians and at the same time wake up the sleeping giant of an offense of the Colonels.
The Indians had to settle for a field goal of seventeen yards by Braden Powell to go up 11-9 with 9:19 left in the quarter.
At the 9:08 mark of the third quarter Mr. Holman used a beautiful spin move as he sprinted fifty five yards for a score. The drive consisted of that play and then a two point conversion pass from Bolin to Hodges made this a, 17-11 game.
Walker would connect with Chase Hall on a pass with 9:00 left in the quarter but Hall would fumble the ball on the hit and the Colonels recovered it.
Fifty one second later Holman showed Division One skills on a fine twenty two yard scoring run to make this a 23-11 game.
The last big play of the quarter came with 4:17 remaining.
Hodges caught a Bolin pass but fumbled the ball away.
With 10:33 left in the game the Indians showed a sign of life when, 5-9 230 pound sophomore running back Jake Harvey plowed in from six yards out. The point after was blocked by Alex Wright keeping the score,23-17
With 10:12 left Bolin finally showed his passing skills when he connected with a wide opened Hodges on a seventy nine yard strike. This to was a one play drive. 29-17 was the new score.
Bourben County would end a two play scoring drive with a twenty eight yard run by Hill. The point after by Bowman made this a 36-17 game.
Facing a fourth and ten and only 4:33 left in the game the coaching staff made the correct call on going for it. The result was a sack by Dalton Williams on Walker.
With the game already decided and only 3:34 left in the game Holman was still on the field. He had his number called and he again scored from nine yards out and after the point after by, Bowman the score was 43-17.
The last big play of the game came when Shelby Jackson laid a big, big hit on Dillon Akers with 3:26 left in the game.
