3 girls dead in Amish school shooting

NICKEL MINES, Pa. - A milk-truck driver carrying two guns and some kind of grudge stormed a one-room Amish schoolhouse Monday, sent the boys and adults outside, barricaded the doors with two-by-fours, and then opened fire on a dozen girls, killing three of them before committing suicide. It was the nation's third deadly school shooting in less than a week, and it sent shock waves through Lancaster County's bucolic Amish country, a picturesque landscape of horse-drawn buggies, green pastures and neat-as-a-pin farms, where violent crime is virtually nonexistent.

"Aug. 24, 2006: Christopher Williams, 27, went to an elementary school in Essex, Vermont, looking for his ex-girlfriend, a teacher. He couldn't find her and fatally shot one teacher and wounded another, police said. Williams also killed his ex-girlfriend's mother, according to authorities. He shot himself twice in the head after the rampage and was arrested."

Two shots to the head and still walking, dang talk about someone who really is CRAZY. But I think its about rediculous people shooting one another over simplistic things that take place at school. One was about tobacco, another was over $50 dollars in a rap contest, even wilder a kid killed a teacher because he wasn't allowed to talk to two girls during class. I think one of these days teachers will be teaching from behind glass if all this nonsense continues to take place.

Takes alot of courage for these guys to come into a school with guns and take on defensless kids. This last fella sure left his family in great shape to live out the rest of their lives.

Such tragic events ....I pray for the victims and their families.....

This is a tragedy. The forgiveness by the Amish people is a true testament to their faith in God and their way of life. I don’t know anyone who could be so forgiving of such an act.

Me and Balla were talking yesterday and we came to the conclusion... no one is safe at school anymore... This is crazy so many of these happening back to back like this...

Two more of the girls died this morning. Thid brings the total to five of them not including the guy that did this. I was in Lancaster a couple of years ago and it is hard to fathom that this could take place there. It goes to show that something like this could happen anywhere at anytime. Some will say he was crazy and not in his right state of mind but he had enough sense to plan this out, drive to the school and prepare for a standoff. His family that was left behind will have to face what was done for the rest of their lives and the children that were executed has family that will probably forgive him for his actions.

Two groups of sisters were killed in this. Ages range from 6-13. 5 more are still in the hospital, I'm just glad to find out one of the girls was able to escape with her brother or there could have possibly been 6 dead.

I really hate to hear that. Why would someone do that? I just don't understand.

This is crazy. This man killed these little girls because he had committed some sort of abuse to young girls in his family 20 years ago. These children had absolutely nothing to do with his past, and according to news reports he had nothing personal against the Amish. But for some reason he felt compelled to murder their children. where is this Amish Village located? I know Amish people do not believe in electricty and what not, but where they are from should have a plan for situations such as this; especially in a area as vulnerable as a rural area filled with Amish people.
