The Pikeville Panthers outlasted Magoffin County on Thursday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 3-2 win at Home.
The Pikeville Panthers pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. The Pikeville Panthers scored on an RBI double by Colten Cross off Jaden Sowards, scoring Cade Byers.
Cade Byers went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Pikeville Panthers. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
Magoffin County couldn't get anything going so long as Christian Tackett was on the hill. Magoffin County managed just one hit off of Tackett, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out eight during his four innings of work.
Grayson Harris got the win in relief for the Pikeville Panthers. Grayson pitched two innings and allowed no runs while striking out 3.
Jaden Sowards was charged with the loss. He pitched the final two innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed one run.
The top of the first saw Magoffin County take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Sowards, plating Logan Lovely who reached base on a dropped 3rd strike.
The Panthers survived Magoffin County's surge and put up one run of their own in the first. The Pikeville Panthers scored on a groundout by Colten Cross.
