US sending "Aid" to the Philippines.....
#1
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/11/11/...survivors/

So let me get this straight..... Our wonderful Government, fresh off from a Shutdown (where I didn't get paid for X number of days) is sending "aid" to the Philippines. And yes, I feel bad for the people of the Philippines. But our wonderful Nation is in no shape to be helping anybody but ourself right now.

How much "Aid" did the Philippines send to the US when Sandy hit the east coast.... or when Hurricane Katrina demolished the South????

And even worse than that.... several Government agencies didn't get paid on time last week (including me) due to a "Glitch" in the National Finance Center payment system.

Please...... Atleast make an attempt to fix the problems we have in our Nation first before sending "Aid" to other countries. We are not the "World's Red Cross"

In general, I do not believe that the U.S. government should provide any relief for natural disasters, either to Americans or to foreign governments.

However, I don't object as strongly to providing disaster relief to the Phillipines as most other foreign governments because it is still on our shrinking list of allies in an area where China is actively working to expand its influence.

I just hope that the aid goes to the Phillipine government and not to the Islamist rebels. With the Obama administration, these questions must be asked in advance because they never get around to answering questions after they destroy foreign alliances.

Feed our kids.

The only reason for kids in the U.S. not to be fed is parents selling food stamps for beer, cigarettes, and dope. We have enough welfare programs in this country. It's time to stop treating human parasites as victims. The choice between feeding kids and foreign aid is a bogus one.

Actually, we are the "World's Red Cross", and WE did it to ourselves. Throughout the Cold War, especially the first half of it, we overthrew government after government if we thought they were even just leaning toward the Soviet Union, they didn't even have to overtly support Communism! Not only that, we pretty much bought support throughout the years in the form of aid. Combine that with the fact that we are legally bound to aid some of these countries we have troops stationed in, and that equals to being the world's police, fire and ambulance service.

We did it to ourselves, we literally created this problem. There is no easy solution. I would think that instead of getting upset over us giving aid to a country we have many, many interests in as well as many American troops, more people would get upset over the millions the U.S. has paid to foreign leaders, like Afghan President Hamid Karzai, usually very quietly and even hidden from our government completely. I don't mind helping out a country we have such an interest in prospering when we are the ONLY nation in the world capable of doing so, but I do mind paying foreign leaders bags of cash money under the table while they actively try to screw us.

If this were a country like Pakistan (which we spent millions helping out during their flooding a few years ago, even though they try to hurt us at every single turn), I could understand being upset about this. But not the Philippines.

Boy I tell you what, you must have that house on the hill. No relief for our own natural disasters? I'm all for taking care of our own. When a farmer that busts his but EVERYDAY to feed the masses gets 500 acres of crops totally destroyed by a storm, you want to turn your back on him? These people would lose everthing. They need to give you the job to be the one to tell these hard working Americans there screwd. Your people skills are outstanding.Confusednicker:
