Will the 15th region ever contend for state?
#31
I don't expect any 15th teams to win the state anytime soon. But it can happen. We have to have some big guys to do it though. And then you have to have some good shooters to go with them. Hard to get it all together in a given year. But is has happened and I think it may again SOMETIME.

Didn't Virgie win state not long ago in middle school and didn't Dorton win some games down state???? Give Valley a couple of years they have 2 of the best feeder programs in the mountains.

The 15th doesn't have the size and actually a team that was blessed in all areas of the game. It takes more than one boy that can shoot to win a game. You can just stand at the arch and bust them, you have to be able to play defense and keep the other team from down state, who has FIVE guys that could stand there and bust them, from scoring.

Size is a big factor. One of the tallest guys from the region was years ago from Feds Creek High School. He was 6'6" or more but couldn't play ball if he had to.

I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. But never say never.

There is a lifetime of difference in middle school and high school basketball. What is considered a big man in middle school is usually a guard or small forward in high school. My personal opinion is that guard play will not win a state championship. You have to have a inside and outside game to compete at that level.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.
