David Jones, named Captain

Senior center Matt McCutchan, senior cornerback Antoine Huffman, and freshman cornerback David Jones have been selected as game captains for the Florida game, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

Game captains are usually selected based on performance from the previous game. McCutchan (Lebanon, Ohio) has played well in anchoring the offensive line. Huffman (Jonesboro, Ga.) had five tackles at Indiana. Jones (Belfry, Ky.) was picked for his performance on special teams as he returned two kickoffs for an excellent 26.5-yard average and added a tackle on kick coverage. McCutchan, Huffman, and Jones will join permanent captain Muhammad Abdullah for the opening coin toss.

Well if ya ever watched David play you had to know it was just a matter of time. I hope this is the first of 4 years of David heading out to center of the field to yell heads or tails. He has made eastern Kentucky proud. Keep it going David and good luck to you and the wildcats this weekend

I agree Old School, should be seeing ALOT more of Jones as this seasons progresses AND in further seasons as well.
This IMO is the basis for his NFL career.
Can't wait to see him grow as an athlete and make the mountains proud.

NFL is stretching it a bit far. Possible? Yes. Likely? No. Very few players from UK year in and year out get drafted and acquired to NFL teams.

Besides that, I think Jones should be team captain next week also. He played as good as anyone else on the team did.

I would love to see a mountain boy go pro but lets face reality.... He played well for UK... and that was on special teams. i know he is a freshmen and he will only get better but we all remember Derek Abney and how good he was and i dont even think he is in the NFL now. David Jones is good and will get better but unless he breaks records or starts rippin it up on defense then he aint goin anywhere.
once again i am not puttin him down but the kid is just a freshmen. lets not start counting his money just yet.
