NKY QBs
#1
There has recently been a nice article about some of the QBs in NKY that have been playing at an extremely high level I will post snippets.

KUNTZ, HOULISTON HAVE SHOT AT RECORD: Highlands senior quarterback Drew Houliston and Simon Kenton senior quarterback Brenan Kuntz both have a chance at setting the single-season state record for completion percentage.

According to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association state record book Leslie County’s Tim Couch, who went on to play for the University of Kentucky and was the No. 1 pick in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, completed 75.1 percent of his passes in 1994.

Houliston has completed 71.4 percent of his passes (119 of 167) for 2,103 yards, 28 touchdowns and one interception this season.

Kuntz has completed 72.4 percent of his passes (105 of 145) after going 20 of 27 in Friday’s 55-35 win over Campbell County. He passed for 367 yards and seven touchdowns in the game, which is tied for the 17th-most in a game in state history (J.J. Hesch of Newport is tied for the most when he threw nine in a 2005 game against Spencer County). For the season, Kuntz has passed for 1,539 yards, 19 touchdowns and one interception.

Walton-Verona Justin Kline

So Barth brought in 1989 Highlands graduate Pete Valz to work with junior quarterback Justin Kline, and when a shakeup in Barth’s coaching staff occurred before the start of the season, he relinquished the offensive coordinator role to Valz, who had served in that role at Amelia High School, and took over the Bearcats’ defense.

The result has been a successful one for Kline and the Bearcats. Kline entered last night’s Class 2A, District 5 game against Owen County having already set the single-season school record for passing yards with 687. He threw two touchdown passes in a 51-20 victory, giving him 11 on the season as the Bearcats improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the district.

Walton-Verona threw for just 637 yards and four touchdowns all of last season when it went 10-3 and lost to NewCath in the Class 2A quarterfinal round, 49-14. Kline began last season as the starter, but after struggling he was replaced by Logan Foley and finished the season 8 of 33 for 147 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Barker, who entered play ranked third in Northern Kentucky with 1,234 passing yards and tied for third with 12 touchdowns, was limited to 137 yards on 8-of-15 passing. Cooper's Ludwig, a first-year starter, ranked fifth in passing yards (1,157) and fifth in TDs (11). He finished 30-of 53 for 311 yards. Both quarterbacks threw three touchdowns.

Bellevue QB Ackerson has thrown for 1900 yards as well
