With todayâs commitment from four star defensive tackle, Cory Johnson, the class of 2014 fortified itâs numbers once againâand fans all across this great Big Blue Nation are hoping that the festivities donât end there. Could Mattâs forecast of a possible multi-Yahtzee weekend come to fruition? Letâs take a look at a few of the candidates most likely to have the Wildcat faithful rolling the victory dice again before Monday kills the buzz of an awesome weekend in Kentucky football.
Braxton Berrios
Okay, maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part to include Berrios in a list of most likely to commit this weekend. Or is it? The Twitterverse suggests that my wishes may not be as far-fetched as some would believe. This North Carolina wide receiver standout was reportedly âtalking about committingâ during a meeting with Coach Stoops according to Stanley âBoomâ Williamsâ Twitter account. If this doesnât get your excitement juices flowing then you obviously didnât see Mr. Honey Nut Berrios takinâ care of bidness at The Opening earlier this month. This guy was made to fill the slot in the Air Raid. While the internet claims that Miami is the clear front runner for Berriosâ services, all signs point to Braxtonâs genuine enjoyment of his first visit to Lexington. Iâd say if heâs talking about a commitment, Kentucky should be considered second to no one in this sweepstakes.
Moral Stephens
Sticking with the wide receivers, Moral Stephens is a name that you better familiarize yourself with quickly. The 6-3, 200 lbs Florida product with offers from Clemson, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and a bevy of other schools that you would expect to accompany a list of offers like those. Whatâs more is that Stephens should be considered firmly on commitment watch to the University of Kentucky. Oddly enough, Stephens, who is ranked as highly as nearly any player that Kentucky is currently recruiting, has snuck somewhat quietly into the wide receiver picture for the class of 2014. Reports indicate that Stephens visit to Lexington went extremely well and that he may be mulling over a decision to commit to the Cats before departing Lexington. Somewhere, Drew Barker is smiling to himself as he watches his master plan unfold neatly before his eyes.
Nick Richardson
Luckily, the skill players arenât the only prospects that could be falling in favor of UK this weekend. Nick Richardson, an offensive lineman from Ohio (where else?) could find himself the subject of another Yahtzee outbreak on Twitter before the weekend ends. Richardson has declared his top two of Vanderbilt and Kentucky and with visits to both schools in the books, this four star prospect will be making a decision very soonâwith this weekend being a rumored possibility for that choice to take place. Richardson would be another promising piece to the (hopefully) impenetrable wall that has pledged to protect Drew Barker from the JaDeveon Clowneyâs of the world. He would joining Derrick Kelley and Jarret LaRubbio as current OL commits. Come on down.
Brady Taylor
This offensive tackle out of Columbus, Ohio has been a top priority in the Kentuckyâs offensive line recruiting efforts in 2014. Taylor visited Lexington this weekend and no doubt got a firm talking to from Stoops and his staff about their desire for him to join this class. Internet chatter indicates that Taylor would be hard-pressed to pass on an offer from his home town Buckeyes if given the chance, however, even if Taylor does get the nod from Ohio State, donât count out the Cats. It appears that Taylor wants to make a decision soon and with a top three of West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Kentucky, he has no shortage of strong options. With a decision expected very soon from Taylor, donât be surprised if he pops by tomorrow.
With decisions like these looming, many of which will work out in Kentuckyâs favor, one thing is becoming increasingly clearer. The culture is transformed folks. Throw caution to the wind. Say it out loud. Write it down in permanent ink. This is not a fluke.
