Whitley County 43 South Laurel 40 50th District
#1
Whitley advances to play Corbin in the district championship.
South is done.

Craig still isnt anywhere near 100%
Powers playing on a torn ACL that could get worse at any time.
Smith was just recovering from mono, but you could tell it affected her.

Going to have a big night against Corbin to win the district.

This WHITLEY CO. Team has a lot of HEART!!!! Any other team would have folded with such adversity....You are correct they aren't even close to being 100%, but they should be 50th District Champs once more! GO LADY COLONELS!!!:lolrage:

Dingess was the difference in this one. Forced several turnovers and had 4 or 5 offensive boards in the 2nd half. She also buried 2 big threes at key points in the game. The two turnovers she forced at midcourt on back to back trips changed the momentum of the game. One of those was a steal and lay in.

The one great thing about this team is that it seems different players step up when needed.
I remember when the Johnson girl went nuts on three pointers breaking a school record while 3 starters were out, then Smith has been a difference maker all year and continues to score, Craig battled and more or less dominated most of the bigs she faced when she was healthy, Powers has been a consistent leader all year, even with a torn ACL, and the list goes on and on.

I really hope this team is almost completely healthy when they face Corbin.
IMHO, there 20 points better than Corbin when 100% healthy, and although Powers will never be fully healthy, the rest of the team will hopefully be close.

Congrats to the Lady Colonels, they showed a lot of heart in this game. It would have been a shame it they had not made the region.
