Corbin 65 Whitley County 62 2 OT's

Looks like Whitley now gets South Laurel in

Ouch.....

Sorry left off last word. Whitley gets South in district and Corbin vs Williamsburg.

Starting PG Bethany Powers tore her ACL against Knox last week.
Shes done for the year.
Craig still hasnt returned, and Hallie Jones is most likely done for the year at backup SG.

The injury bug hits Whitley like a rock it seems. Craig should be back in a couple of weeks, but Whitley has struggled with a short bench.

Hopefully they can turn things around and the injuries stop, however, to play Corbin to two OT's with 3 players injured, two of which are starters, isnt bad.

It has really hurt Whitley not having Craig...and then to lose two of your best guards is a real hit to your program... I was really surprised Corbin didn't blow them out....Give credit to the young JV girls from Whitley for stepping up and playing hard. If I was Parsons, I would be worried...they think they got an advantage playing Williamsburg first round in the District. The District is at Williamsburg this year and they had been playing better as of late. Anything can happen......:flush:

Corbin did not win the game.....Whitley lost it. Had two free throws to win it with no time on the clock and missed them.

Q: When is a win not a win?
A: When you should beat a team like a drum and struggle to win in overtime.

This may be as good as it gets for the rest of the district for some time to come. Whitley will have some talented young ladies returning next year, including a healthy Craig, Smith, Dingess, and Jones. Plus they will add some talented MS players, plus you may see, them bringing up some 8th graders who can flat play. 7th grader Feltner hit a 3 with under 10 in overtime, 7th grader Centers scored 4 and had three rebounds in the meat of the game.......

Look out the Lady Colonels will be on the march.

Anything can happen, but I believe that Corbin would rather play Williamsburg, who they have beaten by 37 and 31 in their two games, than South Laurel.

It was a gutsy effort from the Colonels, who should be able to handle South Laurel in the district.

If Whitley doesnt get the big girl back by the South Laurel game, then South Laurel will beat Whitley again. They have noone to stop the Arthur girl from South. I hate to see the injuries, especially to the Powers girl with her being a senior. Earlier in the season Whitley looked like the team to beat in the 13th.

Corbin should get by Williamsburg pretty easily. Whitley without Craig gives them hardly any inside options, and its hurt them.
It seems like every year Whitley should be the favorite injuries kill them.

Dont forget Johnson coming back as well.
Whitleys feeder program has always been good. To be honest, Whitley should be better next year than they are this year, even if everyone was still healthy right now.

The all important question remains. Who will be the next coach, and can he lead the team to a region title with all this talent. I think it will be someone already with the program. We have to much talent coming up to make the wrong choice.

Craig should be back by then.
From what i hear, she may be back for the last couple of regular season games. Im not for sure, however, Wizzard could prolly feel us in on that one.

The word I have from a family member is: "she should be ready to go by District Tournament barring any unexpected healing problems." Saw her at the game and she had her cast off. Good Sign I think.....
