Zombie Signs on for 'Halloween' Prequel
#1
The rocker will direct the new film, which will be set before the events of 'Halloween II.'
Rocker Rob Zombie has signed up to direct a prequel to the cult 'Halloween' franchise, and promises fans it will be the scariest yet.

He insists the Michael Myers story has grown tired after a string of disappointing sequels, and has vowed to reinvent the series with more gore and suspense than ever before.

The film will be set before the events of 'Halloween II,' and will focus on the life of the serial killer as a young man, before he was admitted to a mental institution.

Zombie says, "The look and the feel is going to be completely different. 'Halloween' started off as a very terrifying concept, a terrifying movie. But over the years, Michael Myers has become a friendly Halloween mask.

"When it came to the point where you could buy a Michael Myers doll that was cute-looking and press its stomach and play the 'Halloween' theme, you knew the scare factor was gone.

"But I think the story and the situation is scary. All it needed was someone to come in and to take a totally different approach to make it scary again. To me, that's the challenge and that's the fun."

As well as writing, directing and producing the film, Zombie will also serve as music supervisor

It should be quite different.

ya know. if it's as psychological as the first it will be good.. but if it's all blood and guts then it's not goin to be any better than the last couple..

Zombie will make it interesting that's for sure, and I'm glad to see a prequal instead of another sequal. It was getting kind of tiresome to see Myers survive such blows over and over again

Totally agree. The first two Halloween's were some of the scariest movies I have ever seen in my life. Hopefully Zombie will do his homework and make this new one even scarier, but it will be very hard to top John Carpenter's masterpiece

Yea, I just don't see a human withstanding the blows he took. Whether it was being hit my trucks, shot over balconies, electrocuted, or set on fire, he always managed to survive when it wasn't humanly possible. Smile

On the otherhand, I hope Zombie does a great job with the prequel. I actually think he will, if he doesn't throw a $1,000 bucks for it like he done with House of 1,000 Corpses. A movie series of this magnitude, will definitely have to have a high-dollar prequel. JMO.....

I'm confused, I thought he was admitted to the mental institution in the first movie, and then released again in the first movie. So how could events be before that be after the first movie? Somebody please explain because I'm so confused.

i thought the doc was in the second one also.. and i didn't think he actually got taken out until h20... of course part three blew goats and didn't really have anything to do with anything.. so i'm not really sure..
