Well I'm no huge fan of this guy but I love Notre Dame. Wether or not he had anything to do with this is irrelevant because he is going to the NFL to be a millionaire and even if he did he wont get in any trouble for it. With all the trouble the NFL players this day and time are getting into with drugs, guns, and domestic violence, I don't think they will give a crap that he made up a story about a fake girlfriend. As far as the heisman goes I don't care what the man did off the field his on the field numbers and stats is what he got awards for. I can't believe that some people are looking down on a person for something like this with all the gangster thugs we have in college and professional sports. We have players in college and professional sports right now with gang related tattoos that they don't even try to hide. Some of those people are probably guilty of murder and drug trafficking so if this is the worst thing thing this kid has ever done then who cares. It would be weird but who cares. And for all of you that don't like Notre Dame well, all I can tell you is to get over it because they just may be right back in this game next year and a few years to come with the fact that the BCS sucks and the fact that they just got a class recruited that is in the top 5 in the nation so..........:moon: [Image: http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-finger004.gif] [Image: http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-taunt002.gif] [Image: http://www.freesmileys.org/custom/image/...5E_%5E.gif]

I am a huge ND fan and WAS a fan of him before this. I think a lot of people care, you do not go on national TV and proclaim your girlfriend died when you do not even have a girlfriend, that is really sick! People started donatting money to charities because of what he said, I am sure they care. Like I said, I am a huge ND fan like you, but get off your high horse and stop sticking up for this kid. He is a despicable human if he was involved any way at all. Even if he is dumb as a box of rocks and got fooled, you do not go on national TV and look for sympathy when he knows it was just a friendship over phone/computer. He never met the girl and he played it up on TV that it was a serious relationship, so he is guilty.

Maybe, Thats just a very low person If that indeed is the case! Or is he Gay and just used this person as a cover up? Maybe, I feel that both is the case lol. It helped him get votes but IMO it is just a cover up. The truth will come in the coming days though
Not sure if he can remain mormon if thats the case

I'm not a fan of him and I'm not sticking up for him. I think he is overrated and the guy may have a great NFL career but I doubt it. The only thing that I'm saying is that people are blowing this crap way out of proportion. The only people who are upset about this is the people who fell for it and everyone else just thinks it's funny. Every year in every game especially in the bowl games and national title people are always looking for the next feel good story and we always hear about this player is a genius in the classroom and this player is a saint who helps the poor and gives to charity and this player beat all the odds and beat a disease and died and came back 3 times and got his body cut in half but he overcame it all and made it to this game! I take it all with a grain of salt because I think about 85 to 90% of it is BS!!!
I also think it is BS that people think that this got the man up for the heisman. Like I said, if the dude did plan all of this then it is weird but he committed no crime that I know of but I could be wrong. At the end of the day if you look at all the crazy and stupid things athlete's have done in every sport in the last decade then this don't even make my top 10 list.

Te'o maintains that he had no part of creating the hoax, but he did tell Katie Couric that he briefly lied about his imaginary girlfriend after he learned of the hoax in December.

New York - Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o has told Katie Couric that he briefly lied about his online girlfriend after discovering she didn't exist, while maintaining that he had no part in creating the hoax.
Pressed by Couric to admit that he was in on the deception, Te'o said he believed that his girlfriend Lennay Kekua had died of cancer and didn't lie about it until December.
''Katie, put yourself in my situation. I, my whole world told me that she died on Sept. 12. Everybody knew that. This girl, who I committed myself to, died on Sept. 12,'' Te'o said in an interview to air Thursday on Couric's syndicated talk show. A segment of the interview with Te'o and his parents was broadcast Wednesday on ''Good Morning America.''
The Heisman Trophy runner-up said he only learned of the hoax when he received a phone call in December from a woman saying she was Kekua.
''Now I get a phone call on Dec. 6, saying that she's alive and then I'm going be put on national TV two days later. And to ask me about the same question. You know, what would you do?'' Te'o said.
An Associated Press review of news coverage found that the Heisman Trophy runner-up talked about his doomed love in a Web interview on Dec. 8 and again in a newspaper interview published Dec. 10.
Te'o's father defended his son when Couric pointed out that many people don't believe the Irish star, suspecting he used the situation for personal gain.
''People can speculate about what they think he is. I've known him 21 years of his life. And he's not a liar. He's a kid,'' Brian Te'o said with tears in his eyes.
On Tuesday, the woman whose photo was used as the ''face'' of the Twitter account of Te'o's supposed girlfriend says the man allegedly behind the hoax confessed and apologized to her.
Diane O'Meara told NBC's ''Today'' show that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo used pictures of her without her knowledge in creating a fake woman called Lennay Kekua.

I still don't know if I believe this.....how can you not know you are speaking to a man all that time...
Maybe he had a relationship with Ronaiah and they used this has a cover up....who knows at this point...

It appears as if naive, gullible, and ignorant apply to Teo at this point. Hope he doesn't buy any bridges in his near future.
This kid needs a guardian otherwise the real world is going to eat him alive! Imagine if he gets drafted to a large market club like Chicago or LA.....it will be brutal!

The guy is like Frank Caliendo in the sense that he can change his voice to sound like others. Looking at all the news, and hearing from a few Notre Dame students that have seen Te'o off the field, I uy that 1. he's not gay and 2. that he had no part in the hoax. I do question his "love" for his fake girlfriend though hering that he spent more nights at St. Mary's than Notre Dame

Te'o said that his biggest mistake was lying to his dad. His dad had asked him if he had met her, he first said no then he hesitated and said yes, so if he's gonna lie to his own family then he will lie about this, I'm not saying he is lying about this whole situation but I don't believe it

Who is to say it isn't all a bunch of lies on top of lies. What probably started off as a prank has garnered some serious attention and now kids are trying to exercise damage control.

Look...
he made up this dead girlfriend crap as a publicity stunt to gain more publicity.
When someone did some snooping to find out about the girl and that she never existed...
BAM! It all fell apart.
There's no telling how much money this Tuaisosopo guy is getting for saying all of this stuff.

i do think there's something more to this story, but it's dying down quickly now that katie couric and dr. phil are involved and espn looked like idiots trying to take credit for the entire story. he'll get a few jokes thrown his way, but this story has lost its steam. he could come out and admit everything, and it won't be as big as when this 1st broke.

He'll only come out and say that after hes a bust next year.
He will try to gain attention after getting thrown around like a rag doll in the NFL and in a last ditch effort for attention try to redo the story.
