Tough loss for the Pirates.

âRelax, all right? Donât try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, theyâre fascist. Throw some ground balls â itâs more democratic.â

^I would say so. I was actually surprised by the score.

Wish they would schedule each other in football..

I was surprised by the score too! And eventually they probably will play each other in football.

Score surprises everyone, but MCHS executed and the Pirates simply didn't. They were better tonight by a few points, not 21. But that happens in WV, if you all have ever played there. Messer had a excellent game. The rematch at Belfry should be a good one. Hopefully a solid lesson for Belfry. Don't think we made a 3 pointer either. Rather take L's now than March. Not taking anything away from Mingo, though. They have a few kids who fill it up from 3, some size, and a crazy good point guard.
As for football, Belfry is looking to add tough opponents to the regular season schedule, and we were thrilled (though it's hard to find a game NOW in that week) that East Ridge dropped out of district so we don't need another "East Ridge" (no offense) game like MCHS. 5-5 in WV just doesn't cut it.

Mingo central just isn't up to par with Belfry in football. Having said that, being on par with Belfry isn't an easy task! Lol

Nope, Mingo can be though. Just a matter of building that program. It's a job that would attract me if I was a coach on the market and that's coming from a die hard Pirate.

Also something worth noting, Messer had 27... Half of Belfry's point total.

These teams hate each other...Mingo Central is a consolidated school combining Burch, Williamson and Matewan. Burch and Williamson were very good "Basketball" schools and Matewan was the "Football" school. Belfry really wasn't a "Rival" of Burch or Matewan, just Williamson in Basketball. I remember the all out wars in the early 90's between The Pirates and Wolfpack...was a tournament atmosphere and the seats in both gyms were full..was so packed once at the old Belfry gym that the Fire Marshall wouldnt let anymore in and it seated 5000 If my memory serves me right...there wasnt even standing room. The rivalry died in the mid-late 90's mostly due to the decline and interest in the Williamson program

Reason #1 why Belfry will never reach their potential in basketball?
Post #4, Belfry fan throwing football into the thread and then another Belfry explaining why they would dominate them in football.
Belfry's basketball schedule is awful. Like a class "A" schools.

The football post was a little off topic but It wasn't that big of a deal. Fans have nothing to with the game itself the last time I checked.
Belfry's Basketball schedule is pretty tough and is no cakewalk...have you actually been to the KHSAA website and checked it out. They play numerous "Tradition Rich" basketball programs...such as Tug Valley, WV, Pike Central (Johns Creek, Millard & Mullins), Shelby Valley (Dorton & Virgie). Mingo Central (Burch, & Williamson). Tolsia,WV, East Ridge (Feds Creek & Elkhorn City) and Allen Central to name a few.

Just looked at it.
I'll give you Tug Valley, Johnson Central, Shelby Valley, Knott County and maybe East Ridge.
The rest of that schedule is awful.
Jenkins, Riverside, Allen Central, South Floyd, Tolsia, Phelps, Pikeville, and Mt. Hope(who is closing because they are so small).
They playing in the All "A"?

Excuse me for explaining why we don't play them. Lol. If it's a surprise to you that we're good at football, I apologize. But I am a huge bball fan, try to make every game but there's no denying we've got a good football program ?
