Will the games be broadcasted by any television companies or Internet sites?
11-24-2012, 02:09 PM
If i remember correct the KHSAA doesn't allow live video speed until after the game so I think any coverage other than radio will be delayed

11-24-2012, 02:12 PM

IHigh covers is every year! I remember posting pics also! I am sure that there will be plenty of coverage...although I cannot imagine anyone will be left here in the Pond Creek Nation next week...lol

WYMT might cover it, but wait Belfry is playing, they probably won't...

WYMT should be carrying the game, but we are still working out the details with IHigh as to when we can air the games!

I am also going to address this one time since it was already brought up in this thread.
In order for WYMT to air games during the regular season, we must get approval from the host school.
Now there have been several times this season where we have approached a school, and for whatever reason, they declined our request to do a game live of television.
That was indeed the case this past week, as we approached Belfry to do their game versus Bourbon Co.. They declined, so we approached Harlan Co. You know the rest of the story!

Can anyone confirm live coverage?
11-28-2012, 12:24 AM
Since KHSAA moved the games to bowling green it seems that in NKY things went down hill. Insight used to air on tape delay but no longer. 1320 AM used to also cover playoff games as well as state game but that no longer exists. Not for sure if this was due to new technology approach such as ihigh or lack of sponsorship. Call me old school but move back to Louisville and bring back the radio broadcasts.

WYMT will be airing the game tape delayed Saturday night at 8pm

Thanks for clearing that up DF. It is a business decision and although it may be hard for some to understand, it is Belfry's (or any school's) decision to make. Unless the TV coverage comes with a healthy check then it is a solid decision to decline the coverage, even if unpopular with some. I'm not suggesting WYMT should pay the host school, nobody expects a small market TV sports department to offer that kind of compensation.
Sometimes it does come down to money, and there is nothing wrong with that. Money made on football and basketball go to pay for many programs at BHS and it is the job of the administration to maximize that revenue. If declining TV coverage is what they feel is best for BHS then I'm glad they have the guts to do the right thing and decline it. That is just the facts of the life and it isn't dirty or funny, it is just strong leadership.
I don't really understand the bitterness towards WYMT-TV. WYMT does more for sports in their coverage area than any station anywhere. Ask fans from other places and they have a hard time getting any coverage of any kind. We are spoiled that we have TV, radio and newspaper coverage from multiple sources, and WYMT's coverage and production is outstanding.
Bottom line is that nothing is ever quite as simple as we think. What might seem like a slam dunk to those on the outside, may really be a complicated issue that involves making hard decisions. My point is it is unfair for us to just throw WYMT under the bus without first knowing the details. This one is obviously not on them.
OK my rant is over, I'm stepping off the soap box now.

Good post Buc-a-roo. Belfry is probably one of the further schools from Hazard in the coverage area.
WYMT does a great job.

The only reason i have never went to any type of dish is WYMT.
I would lose my Sports Overtime & coverage of local games i would like to see, but not able to because i attend my teams game.
I have my DVR set to record SO and what ever the GOW might be. It is always a good one.
Thanks for all you do WYMT.
Thanks for the info on the Belfry game. Now if i can just avoid the score till then.

now that's a neat trick, LIVE video feed AFTER the game.
I assume some wormhole affect, or some other breach
of physics.
