Region at HC this year, good or bad move?
#1
Will this affect how many people will come and watch the games? I think HC should host the tourny, I would love to see the region go back to a rotation with the tourny. It gives a better feel and atmosphere IMO.

Harlan County has an outstanding place to accommodate all the people for a Reguonal Tourney.

I agree that the tournament should be rotated and not held at the Arena anymore. Last year, I personally felt very disconnected from the game. It was like watching it on TV. I agree that the atmosphere is much better when held at a school because you are closer to the floor and can better see and hear what's going on in the game. Additionally, the admission and concession sales will benefit a school's program, not the Arena. Who's idea was it to have the Regional Tournament in Corbin anyway?

:Thumbs:Should never be played in the Arena again....That place is awful to watch basketball in. Fans are completely disconnected from the games.

Pretty much every 13th region school except for Harlan County.

I think it's a great idea.

The drawback of the Arena is that the Arena gets revenue from it as well as the schools. If at a school, the schools get the revenue.

I disagree that every 13th region team besides Harlan County wanted it there. Do you really think Clay County wanted it? I've watched probably 20 games there in the last 3 years whether boys or girls and it is terrible for atmosphere. The only positive about it all was that it was a nice venue. Harlan County has an amazing facility that will be nice. However, it does need to rotate. That's a good drive for schools like North and South Laurel, Whitley, Clay, Corbin, etc. I know Harlan County people will say, "Well, we had to drive to Corbin." But, that's why it is changing.
