I never cared much for hillbilly days. Just a bunch of people on the draw that has saved up money for the occasion imo.

That's pretty much how I see it too, so that's why I only go for a while to get something to eat and get outta there....Too many shady characters for me... :yikes:

I had my driver's test today and an OMT appointment soooo I am out of school anyway. I am at Pikeville College like always and so I am going to run out to Hillbilly Days in a little while. I went to school Monday this week and skipped out on the rest and will continue to until this coming Monday. On a Thursday during the morning and daytime, you can go and look around before you have to fight the crowd. I will buy stuff now and socialize later this afternoon.

:thatsfunn There are some weird people there that's for sure....Heehawin' and what not...I can't believe there's actually people who travel miles away just for the thing. Travel 1000 miles to get ripped off by an oval basketball hoop, a horrible theme park, and an 8 dollar funnel cake.... Some diehard hillbillies there.....:goofy:

Hillbilly Days isn't horrible this year. The food is still a little pricey but that's all part of the economy and supply and demand. It IS a stereotype and will be, FOREVER. Don't let it get to you. We know how we live and that we are, well most of us, are nothing like what outsiders think. The festival is all in good fun. This year that are going through a company that have cleaner workers and safer rides as well. Why not go out and help the Shriners raise money for sick children? What could it hurt? You don't have to buy anything that you don't want and who knows? You might find something cool that you do. The food comes around once a year and I'm sure that you have paid for than $5 or $6 for a meal before..it sounds high but look at a normal bill sometime.. People watch if nothing else, it's one of the best parts. Pike County has a good thing going for them with this festival. It brings alot of tourism dollars into the area and in turn helps as the cities continue to grow. If people from as far as Ireland can come and enjoy themselves I see no reason why people from this area cannot. Remember only at Hillbilly Days can you help raise money for hospitals, see mullets for miles around, eat funnel cakes, watch drunks clog, ride a camel, and pick a banjo.

I love this tribe hahaha. It reminds me of umm err last night at Hillbilly Days. I did have the BEST funnel cake ever though and amazing fried pickles! Oh and I also bought a rose pin thing to support Shriners because my brother had surgery there and I always try and help them when I can.
