This evening, my wife and I set out on a dinner date for just the two of us. We do this often and at every restaurant we go to we are treated very well and look foward to dining out.
Tonight, we decided on a restaurant we had never been too but had heard the food was good and the atmosphere was neat. The place was called Floaters, and is located on the waters of Paintsville Lake. Well....we arrived at our table at 7, placed our orders at 7:05, at 7:55 we had not recieved our meals and had not had our server even come back to our table. So...we got up and I went on to get the car while my wife payed for our Iced teas. after paying, they came up to her with our food and asked if we wanted it to go? Very politely, she said, no....we wanted to eat here, but the wait for the food to arrive was just too long without any explanations, so I just payed for what we actually got and now we are leaving. As she was just about at the door, the old man at the register and the owner of the place yelled at her in front of the crowd (of which we new several personally) "DON'T YOU EVER COME BACK HERE"!!!
She waited until we had eaten at another place and FLOATERS was closed to tell me!!! Now I have to go back there tommorow and let them here a real complaint!!! The place should be packed considering Mem. weekend. And how could they have the nerve to tell us not to come back to a place we would never return too anyway?

If you ordered your food and 50 minutes later it had not arrived, nor had you seen your server during that time period, then you have a legitimate complaint....not the owner. He owes you an explanation, not the other way around.
My wife and I ate at Applebees once, and they were about 35 minutes getting our order to us. It was no big deal to me, but suddenly the owner appeared at our table, when we were about halfway finished with our meal, and told us the meal was on the house because they were a little slow getting it out to us. I hadn't said anything or complained because actually I didn't think it was too late myself, but the owner did, and gave us a free meal.
50 minutes to get a meal to customers is a little too much IMO.

That's crazy....When I was in Boston with Balla and my two aunts we went to this one place to eat and they gave everyone water automatically and when we looked at the menu's everything was way way too much... i think 8.00 for a small potato or something like that so we got up and left and the servers started running after us....it was funny...

My family and I were coming back from a Dance Team competition at Kings Island back in 1998, and it was late we were hungry so we stopped off in Lexington at O'Charley's. We ordered... after 45 min's I asked about the food and if it would be much longer, we had four girls and two young boys with us, some had fell asleep with their heads on the table.
Anyway, we got our food an hour and a half after we had ordered. Our order had fallen behind the counter (likely story). I asked for a discount, they refuesed and made me pay the full amount, but they did give me a coupon for a free slice of pie lol. None of the kids or my wife or myself have ever been back into an O'Charleys again anywhere.
There is an old saying, If you get a good deal, people tell two or three other people, if you get a poor deal, you tell everyone, And so we have. Lay it on em The Guru, heres one they'll never see because of the way they treated you and your wife. And I shall pass this little story on to others I know. A bad rep is just what a restaurant like that needs.

There is simply no excuse to have to wait for the meal. I don't blame I would have left too but, I probably would not have left quitely. They would have known I was there and would not be back.

i did want to hide my "REDNECK as much as possible.
To tell the truth, I went to the car to keep from raising a scene....I guess they deserved one though.
The Iced tea sucked as well!!!
Within 45 minutes of leaving we were dining on ribeyes at the Carriage House and they were deliscious! And it took 10 of those minutes to drive there!

No but I don't think the people at Applebees are too fond of me. We go in, I had been there a bunch of times before, but a new waitress IDs me, I had just turned 22, but it expired like 3 days before, so she wouldn't serve me. I got pretty mad, sorta got hostile with the waitress and manager, then yelled some obscenities as we were leaving (take into account that I can't talk much as it plus trying to yell when I'm mad so they probly couldn't understand me).

That's some bull Guru. I never could quite get the nerve up to eat at a old baitshop or is it still a bait shop because I've heard it still is. Well doesn't matter now, after you all are serviced that way they'll never get my business unless I need some worms or some minnows to fish with. LOL. :lmao:

Wellll my family and I waited a looooooong time to get our food in Applebee's but it was graduation night, the rest. was packed, and a few family members ordered steak which I can understand taking a little time to cook. BUT the problem was the waitor getting Chris' order wrong like 3 times, he ordered boneless BBQ buffalo wings and the waiter kept bringing jalepeno. Dwayne ordered a Budweiser and they brought him a Miller. Basically the waiter was an idiot and kept messing everything up, from our drinks to our bill at the end and everything in between..There is no excuse for stupidity. Other than that I have had no real problems out of any place.
Guru hearing your story about Floaters I too can keep myself and my friends away from that place. I will be sure to share your story with other people in that area so they patronize another location. You had damn good reason to complain, I would throw the biggest fit that they had EVER saw, and I don't blame you in the least.

I would have never set there for more than half an hour you did what was right, but when your eating at a resturant always keep in mind, never mess with someone who can mess with your food.
