The Class of 2013 has seen a bunch of changes in a year or so but the top two players remain the same.
Itâs a solid class at the top but not too deep.
Iâve ranked the top 25 players and then listed a bunch of other guys that could be considered for the 20-25 range.
Honestly, after about 18 I had a really hard time sorting the guys out. A lot of similar players in the mix and a lot of guys that have room for major improvement this summer.
But hereâs the listing:
⢠1. Derek Willis, Bullitt East, 6-9, F â UK commit has struggled but is still the best player overall in the class. Heâll be just fine!
⢠2. Darryl Hicks, Trinity, 6-4, G â Has five offers and that list should grow.
⢠3. Dominique Hawkins, Madison Central, 6-0, G â Always the same type of production every game; he gets it done.
⢠4. Jack Whitman, Lexington Catholic, 6-8, F â Has come a long way in a year. Has a ton of college interest at this time.
⢠5. Lavonne Holland, Ballard, 6-2, G â Some might say too high, but heâs a player. And just can flat score the basketball.
⢠6. Omar Prewitt, Montgomery County, 6-5, F â Big-time shooter getting stronger.
⢠7. Rusty Troutman, Bullitt East, 6-4, G â Most underrated player in the class by some; gets overlooked a lot with Willis as a teammate.
⢠8. Mike Smith, Paul Dunbar, 5-10, G â Scorer with a great feel for the game.
⢠9. Taylor Gover, Pulaski County, 6-1, G â Talk about scorer. Can fill it up.
⢠10. Dez Marshall, Collins, 6-4, G â Love his game; steady and skilled.
⢠11. Demetrius McReynolds, Butler, 6-3, G
⢠12. James Quick, Trinity, 6-1, G
⢠13. Jordan Majors, Hopkinsville, 6-3, F
⢠14. Nate McGovney, Campbell County, 6-3, G

I dont put much spunk in Jodis picks the kid at Trinity is better than the kid at Bullitt East Willis is 2 to 1 and He has Cornett in the class of 2013 and 2014 at Perry,Cent. by these rankings and Justice at Knott Cent the best player in 2015 He wont get much better just like the Patroits will not either because the competition will not be as good as the Louisville ofr Lexington area:please:

As bad as Willis may have played in state tourney game the Hicks kid only had 2 points in the same game. Plus he had to sit out their next tourney game for discipline. Willis was a Monster in Frankfort a week ago, I watched all of Easts games that week, they rolled over everyone. Lost their point guard and Willis played point the rest of the time, they didn't miss a beat. He can play all 5 positions and play them at a high level.

Heard he is hoping to play this year? Had surgery last week. Does that give him enough time to recover?

Yes, he has been saying ever since it happened that he will be back after Christmas. BUT ---- Derek Rose had the same injury, the same surgery, and did it 2 months before Nate. Rose's full-time job, meaning he does not have to go to school every day and he can commit 8+ hours a day to rehab with the best facilities and doctors in the world, and it is looking like Rose may not play until February. Nate must contend with school, an athletic trainer who may be able to spend 30 minutes per day (remember - it's football season NOW) and seeing his doctor once every four weeks. Is it possible for Nate to play this year???? Sure, but his ability to perform at an average level and not hurt himself in the process is not very likely.
