English stepping down at West Carter
#1
March 13, 2012 — After three seasons with an even record of 40 wins and 40 losses, West Carter’s Tex English has decided to step down from his position as head coach of the Lady Comets.

After falling to Morgan County in the first round of the 62nd District Tournament, English said his reason for leaving is due to a need to spend more time with his family.

“I really enjoyed my time here with the Lady Comets program,” English said. “As many may know, I have a growing family and simply feel that I need to devote more time with my kids.”

With a .500 win/loss percentage over his three-year stay with the Lady Comets, English said that he wishes his former team nothing but success for the future.

“This is a great program and a great group of girls for someone to inherit,” English said. “There is definitely some talent to be had in the coming years, and I wish whomever takes over the position nothing but the best.”

A rich winning tradition left by the legacy of former head coach John “Hop” Brown, the Lady Comets have not won a regional title since the 2002 season, two years removed of its magical state championship run.
