Quote:COLUMBIA, Ky. -- For the second straight game it didn't seem like Kalen Kimberland could miss a shot.

There was no better opponent to keep a hot streak alive against than the top ranked University of Pikeville (Ky.), as the junior from Columbia poured in a game-high 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting to propel the Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team over the Bears 76-73 on Saturday in Biggers Sports Center.

Senior Chase Spreen added 15 points for Lindsey Wilson and junior Darren Ballou tallied a tough 12 points and three rebounds while battling inside the paint with Pikeville's bounty of big men.

The biggest of the Bear centers, Shane Burrell, put up the biggest stats, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Trevor Setty added 18 points, but missed 12 shots as he finished 7-of-19 from the field.

The game's final minute provided another classic ending inside Biggers Sports Center.

Junior Josh White put the Blue Raiders up by one with a minute to play on a put back of senior Justin Archie's missed layup. McHenry came right back up the court for the Bears and put them back up with a long jumper with less than a minute to play.

Keeping the back-and-forth action alive Kimberland hit the shot of the game with 40 seconds on the clock from the baseline that would give Lindsey Wilson the lead for good at 74-73.

Down by two with two seconds on the clock Pikeville's Chris Watson missed the first of two free throws, then was called for a lane violation while trying to rebound an intentional miss.

Spreen was fouled immediately on the inbounds pass and missed the first shot and made the second to give the Blue Raiders a three-point lead with less than a second to play.

Pikevile's full-court pass was tipped and the clock ran to zero without a shot attempt.

The win lifts the Blue Raiders to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-South Conference, while Pikeville, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Preseason Poll, drops to7-3 overall and 1-3 in the MSC.

Lindsey Wilson trailed by as many as seven points in the first half as Pikeville's Chris McHenry buried a 3-pointer to go ahead 25-18 with eight minutes to play. But by halftime the Blue Raiders had clawed back to take a 42-41 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 4 p.m. CT on Dec. 10 for an exhibition game at NCAA Div. I member Samford (Ala.) University in Birmingham, Alabama.
