Coach: Joe Washington (second year).
Last season: 11-12, lost to Doss 86-38 in first round of 22nd District.
Player to watch: G Timmy Janes (6-0, Sr., 19.0 ppg.). Janes scored 438 points as a junior to raise his career total to 645. Last season, he did it all – hit 52 three-point shots, made 46 steals, dished out 78 assists, grabbed 88 rebounds and blocked six shots. “I want him to take to defense more this season,’’ Washington said.
Other top players: F Michael Sellinger (6-3,l Jr., 10.6 ppg., 5.9 rpg.); F Noah Miller (6-4, Jr., 3.90 ppg., 3.6 rpg.); F Hannah Dillion (6-1, Sr.); G Norcini Chase (5-11, Sr.); F Chris Winstead (6-1, Sr., 2.4 ppg., 2.4 rpg.); C Demetrius Richmond (6-5, Sr.); G Jared Galvan (5-9, Jr.); F Noah Fulks (6-3, Jr.).
Outlook: The Eagles have good size and quickness, but only nine players on the varsity –5 seniors and 4 juniors. Washington thinks the team will compete better than a year ago because the squad is more of a team now. “We’re looking forward to a positive start,’’ he said.
