Warren Central wins 59-38 over the Maroons in the Don Marshall Bowl.

I'm surprised Warren Central gave up that many points.

Part of it was that Central was missing a couple of starters on both sides of the ball outright, part of it was they were rotating in some more inexperienced players, and part of it was that they couldn't seem to freaking tackle half of the time. Pulaski got a couple of long scores in the first half where the Dragons had a guy with a chance to make the tackle but couldn't get it done in the open field. Pulaski went for two 4 times successfully, so that added some points as well. I would also say the defense paid for the offenses success somewhat. The Dragons had a few one play possessions where they scored a long TD and put the D right back out on the field.
All in all, glad Central won, never really doubted it, but the defense definitely needs to tighten up. The Logan County result was an aberration because it was 54-6 and the Cougars kept their starters in against a bunch of frosh, but dating back to the Ballard game the Dragons have given up 27 (Ballard), 21 (Bowling Green), 33 (Logan County), and 38 (Pulaski County). Whatever the circumstances, you'd like to see some lower totals.
Also very glad that we're done with long road trips. The Dragons do not do well on them AT ALL. Their two worst games this year were easily this one and the road trip to Ballard. They were closer than I thought they should have been against Meade County. Even going back to last year's loss at Nelson County. All road trips of longer than 2 hours. The longest trip they could possibly face at all is an hour to Christian County.

I figured Warren Central would put up quite a bit of points tonight...PC has the capability to put points on the board, it's the defense that isn't getting the job done for the Maroons.

Meant to mention that someone should teach the reffing crew that was there tonight what the proper play clock is. There was more than one occasion in the first half where they blew right past 25 seconds after the ready for play was blown. That includes the first TD that Pulaski County scored, when they went about 30 seconds after the ball was marked ready for play (and they should have called illegal motion, but I digress). The Maroons had a clear strategy of shortening the game. After every play they rotated footballs which kept the clock running and delayed the spot. And then of course took either the full 25 or in those cases beyond it. Consequently, there were times 45-50 seconds ran between plays.

Southwestern always has clock/play clock troubles that they need to get fixed. Trust me, you are not the first to say that and won't be the last. haha

I figured that the Maroons would lose but, I am happily surprised that they were able to put 38 points on Warren Central!

C'Mon Man!!! Are you serious? I read a lot of threads but rarely post but this one got me going. The score was 59-38 how did they shorten the game. When it rains for three days teams usually want to try to get a dry ball in. I dont understand what the crying is about. Did any of this mess change the outcome of the game. Some people feel the need to complain about something all the time. Trying not to be personal but this one is a reach. How many points did you want to see scored to make you feel like you like you got to see a full football game?

They went away from it in the second half, but that was clearly what they were doing in the first half. I'm not complaining about the strategy that Pulaski was putting forth, more about what the refs were doing. The first quarter it was 7-0 in a game that ultimately had 90 points scored after that, so Pulaski was successful in shortening it up to that point. If the ball swapping wasn't a part of a strategy for Pulaski County then it was effective nonetheless. I know Central didn't do it every single play.
Again, the major complaint I was putting out there was that the refs didn't know what a playclock was. "Some people feel the need to complain about something all the time", you'll forgive me if it pisses me off to see a ball set ready for play at 5:10 and at 4:35 the refs still haven't called a delay of game. Just thought it was ridiculous.
