How are they looking in the spread offense?

I was going to say Bianchi and Saragas. Maybe Morris, since he is so versatile. Harlan's line back then was huge. I don't see anyone breaking into that unit.
I think Goss and Dunson could have played on any Harlan team. Those are two of the best I've seen at Harlan.

Granted, they lost a large group of seniors last year, but that can apply to many teams. Thus that puts one in the position of having to rebuild, and I think SC is working hard on that aspect.
Also, we can look at the glass as half-full, because SC does return some pretty fair athletes. So, we shall see as the 2011 season progresses.
I agree with you. I look for SC to have a goos year

I would agree with HDE that Goss and Dunson are the best two players in the Donahue era at HHS, Saragas will end up being the best QB that the Dragons have had maybe ever. He will be more mobile and much stronger than last year, where he put up some pretty lofty numbers for a Soph QB. Bianchi has really put in the time during this off-season and his numbers will be much improved. Where the rubber meets the road on the success of this team will be, can the line find some help in the Soph class that can spell some of the older kids from going both ways, if so this can be a special team. I feel that where the difference from last year to this will be on the defensive side of the team, they have a bunch of kids that move and run to the football very well, now will they turn into a bunch of mad dogs, that is the $$$ question, if so then they can get to make a late run in the playoffs, if they don't then it will be one big missed oppourtunity. For me this could be one of the greatest times in the rich history of high school football in Harlan County, if the Black bears find themselves some linemen to take the place of Calton, Owens, Haywood, and Hensley, and the Dragons get a shot of mean ass to their mind set, I don't see many sad nights in the land of the Justified.

I agree with you HDE they were great players and could have played on any Harlan team. As for Bianchi I think he could have started for the '83 team. As far as for the '81 or '82 teams I'm not sure. Who would he have replaced? Kelly Raglin (star athelete) or maybe Pete Dean (star athelete) both exceptionally skilled players who were under used at Harlan because our running game was so strong. But I agree that Vince is in their league. I also will say that when some of the other sophomores show their maturity this season people will be surprised. Again, they were so young last season. It will be easier to guage their talent after this season. I mean how far along were Dunston or Goss at that stage as sophomores? Maybe you can shed some light on that for me I wasn't in Harlan during their years. But I did know Goss when he was in grade school and he was always a hard nosed kid. I just can't comment on where the two were as sophomores. I also can't tell you what kind of teams they played on at Harlan. I'm not saying this was the case with either of them but when you play on a level higher than the rest of your teammates you tend to stand out in memory a little more. Which would be hard to say of the early '80s teams since almost every player filled their position on such a high level. It takes many great players to make a great team and I feel this group could turn out to be great They have alot of athletic ability that will only get better with time and maturity. If Coach Donahue,Coach Lutrell and Coach Miller can't bring it out then it's not there to start with. I believe it is and they are blessed to have the coaches they have.

I'm anxious to see the effect of losing Dudly Hilton to Pikeville College will have on Bell. I absolutely would not want to follow that act. Think Joe Hall & Adolph Rupp
