Beechwood Head Coaching Position
#1
Rumor has it that 18 applications were sent in for the Beechwood head coaching position. The 18 applicants have been narrowed down to 5 finalists. 2 of the finalists are current Beechwood coaches (Bob Burnett - Offensive Line Coach and Noel Rash - Defensive Coordinator). The other 3 applicants still remain a mystery.

Amazingly, there was only one other NKY applicant (Steven Lickert of Dayton). He is not a finalist, though. The remaining 3 finalists are all from outside the NKY area. Also, it's rumored that there were applicants from as far away as California and Illinois who were interested in filling the void left by the resignation of Mike Yeagle at the Beechwood football program.

Have you heard any of these rumors hillbilly?!?!

Man--how do you guys beat me to the punch with stuff like this?

At this point, I need to do a little checking. The only part that I had heard there was that there were 18 applicants. I know that the 2 inside guys were top candidates.

Give me a few minutes and let me see what I can dig up.

This is big news. Wonder if they would bring someone in from the outside like that. If the CA part is true that would be a big move for that guy. Anyone know if he has ties to KY or the Beechwood area?

So far, I have heard that both of the far away candidates have KY ties from somewhere in their past. The part that is still interesting to me is that the original posting stated that there were no teaching jobs available. That leads me to believe that they are definitely looking on the inside. (At least I hope).

The last interview isn't even going to happen until a week from tomorrow (01/25/2006). They are suppose to interview another person today. So, I wonder what kind of standing that the person next week has.

I have tried to stay out of this for a reason (I really have to in a way--if I want to stick around in the future). Either of the inside guys would be a great fit.

Well--pretty much all of this is true. (You would think I would know a little more when it comes to this situation).

I can't wait until it is over and done with.

KHB any truth to them already making their decision and just going through the motions and waiting to make it public?

Good question--because this is something that I have heard a lot.

My thoughts break out like this--if this is a done deal--it isn't going to turn out to be the "done deal" that every thinks. I think that there is some conversation in some other places where a bunch of people think that they have some kind of clue--but in reality--they are so far off--it makes me laugh.

I will say this--the committee that they have formed is as solid as it gets. And it is an insult to those of us who know them when we have to hear that certain people get the job if they want it. The committee and the principal HAVE to make the right hire there. If they don't--they are going to feel heat and pressure that no one wants to go through (but again--this group is going to do the right thing).

If the "right person" gets this job--Beechwood will show MORE dominance than they have in the past. You can take that one to the bank. (There are a lot of people who don't buy into that--but it is the truth).
