Right fielder Jayson Werth has agreed to a $126 million, seven-year contract with the Washington Nationals.
The first deal of the winter meetings was announced Sunday while Major League Baseball was still setting up the news conference room, and it was a big one.

What a shame. Werth would sacrafice the chance to win titles for the little extra pocket change he will get at a consistent loser!

Agreed. As long as he's in a Nationals Uni he won't win anything except couple games here and there.
One Thing I Don't like is while The Big Name Free Agents are signing with other teams the Cubs aren't doing anything but yet they have $140-160 something million to spend, but yet there too worried about signing Minor League Players. Stupid Jim Hendry

The Nationals are fools. Werth has had one decent, not outstanding, season. His attitude makes him less than a likeable player. He will neither help at the gate nor increase the win column for the lowly Nats. Since the management is that stupid, they deserve what they will receive. This is insane. No wonder baseball is in such bad shape.
