Pineville @ Harlan 10/15
#1
Pineville 6-1 (1-0) visits Harlan 2-5 (0-1)

From the record you might lean instantly to Pineville in this one. We are ranked in the top 10 for Class 1A, only loss was to a higher 3A class team by 1 point. Lot of wins have come by big margins, we have one of the top rushers and scorers in the state. Junior and Senior laiden team ...
All that sounds great ... but look closer ...

4A McCreary Central 1-6
1A Berea 1-6
1A Lynn Camp 2-5
3A Jackson County 0-7
1A Paintsville 2-5
3A Estill County 2-5
1A Jenkins 0-7

8 wins among 7 teams ... OUCH, not a one of those teams except Paintsville will earn a playoff spot in their respective districts. Others may go among those listed but ... really most will face a 1 seed first round

Harlan on the other hand has played some good teams, and played them well. Depth and youth have been there biggest problem. Compared to the team that took the field first game of the year to now, they have grown, matured and jelled better than Pineville because they have been tested all year. Our cupcake schedule hasn't promoted trial threw tribulation, may be the best thing all year was coach going for 2 against Estill County, and lossing. Pineville and Harlan have been playing for years, with blow outs both ways but more often a down home slug fest.

An important district game for both, possiably for the second seed behind Hazard whom Pineville plays next week at home.
Despite what people may say, I feel in my bones this one will be as tradition says a real fight, that by no means is one team better than the other but equal by different means.
I hope my Lions win, and feel they should in the end. We will have to come back as emotion and homefield should help Harlan start quick. Due to each teams style of play it should be moderate to low scoring. If the defenses get worn out then it could get ugly either way and be the runaway that sometimes happens, still I expect said emotion and mental fatigue from the Hazard game to wear on them for our comeback in the second half.

Pineville 32
Harlan 28

So what are your thoughts ?

Despite Pineville's easy schedule stated by KyFanaticus, Harlan's only 2 wins have come against 2A Knott County Central(0-7) and 1A Allen Central(3-4) so I think Pineville should win this one without much trouble!

Pineville - 42

Harlan - 21

Harlan played Hazard tough for 3qtrs last week, so I wouldnt sleep on the Dragons, although I do think Pineville wins by double digits.

If Harlan can play the way they did against Hazard then I do not see Pville winning this game. It should definitely be a good one, but because it is at Harlan I am going to say Harlan 21 Pineville 14.
#14
If Harlan play Pineville like they did Hazard, Harlan will win this game.
#15

Pineville wins if they come in focused and not over looking the game to the game next week against Hazard.

How would you overlook somebody that has beat you nine straight times?
#22
They are kids, success like this is rare for them, not hard to imagine things. Their memories arent as long as mine or yours. Even in our best stretches we havent played this well in years since Woolum was QB, back when Pikeville was number one in the state. Based on this years enrollment records Pineville is the smallest football school in the state, (again)

LOL, The more things change, the more they stay the same. Used to be Pikeville, Now its Hazard ...

Lets just hope for a good clean game, close, that no one gets hurt on either side, and that sportsmanship rules. Oh and that Pineville wins Smile
