It is a classic alright. This is the weakest field ever. The first team to 35 wins each night. Who picked these teams? This tournament has really went downhill. Once considered THE tourney in the mountains, it is now just a deal with 3 games.:boo:

It would have been nice to see the TOP teams in the mountains play this tourney, like they used to do back in the golden age of the YMT. Granted, Paintsville is a good choice from the 15th, and Hazard and Leslie are good choices from the 14th, and North Laurel and Harlan good choices from the 13th. And since they rotate sites between KCC and PCC, you have to put those 2 in every other year, so KCC is the choice this season.

Now, Betsy Layne was picked to have a very good season this year, which would have made them a good choice, but things haven't turned out that way, and sometimes that happens.

As for Phelps, this is the WYMT-"MOUNTAIN" Classic, and the rules are that mountain teams, no matter who, are going to be picked at some point, it just happens to be Phelps' year.

Does anyone know for sure if the Hornets have played in this tourney before?

It would have been nice to see Paintsville, Pike Central or Belfry, Hazard and Leslie Co., North Laurel, Barbourville, Bell Co. or Corbin, along with KCC in the tourney this year. Now that would have been a good tourney with any of those teams making the field of 8.
