This will be the third year that most of the lineman have been together. Last year LC was one of the top rushing teams in the state, and with Joe Roskopf back, and Sidney Wagner who has a chance at breakout year, Lynn Camp could once again put up big numbers, and a big credit for that will be the play of the line. Larry Parker does a great job at coaching the line. He is one of the best in the state, and was awarded for that a couple of years ago, coaching in the KY/Tenn All-Star game.

I say that because they always have people post here and talk openly about how they have "the best in the state" at MANY positions -- their RB this year was "the best in the state." Their Line "has some of the biggest and best in the state." etc.

And, another related question, how do the people at LC get out in the state to see so many of the other teams through the season?

I mean, if they're touting their player(s) to be "the best in the state," they HAVE to have something to COMPARE them to.

They must go to West Ky. and see Mayfield, Henderson Co., and the Owensboro schools play. They must get over to the Bowling Green area quite a bit. They must spend a LOT of time in Louisville and Lexington. They must travel up I-75 a lot to Northern Ky.

How do they ever have time to see THEIR OWN team play!?

Seriously...how can ANYONE post that their player(s) are "the best in the state" or anywhere CLOSE to that when all you ever see is THEM and their OPPONENTS in your own little neck of the woods!?

It shatters your credibility when you do this!! And it actually HURTS YOUR KID when you have a LEGIT good one (like "the little boy that cried wolf.")

You need to go back a read most threads on here, on other message boards, most people brag up players from their own schools as being some of the best in the state, that is common on message boards. Lynn Camp rushed for over 3000 yards, and was at the top or near the top in rushing yards in Class A. 2 backs over a 1000 yards and one over 900 yards. Lynn Camp average around 40 points a game. And if you have seen Lynn Camp, they was done with LC running the ball 90% time with 8 to 9 guys in the box. I do think that LC line deserves a big part of the credit for that. Now you throw in another year of improving their skills and getting stronger, I think LC line will be better this up coming season.

I understand that. Point was that it seems to me, from reading MANY posts, from MANY fans of MANY schools, the terms "best in the state" seem to come from LC fans MORE than most other...INCLUDING fans from the tradional "powerhouses" in the state.

And I'm not doubting they AREN'T the best...but just saying, if they DID have that many that were REALLY "the best in the state," it should be a DISAPPOINTMENT every year if they DON'T win the state championship.

If a Boyle Co. fan or a Highlands fan or a Trinity fan, etc., etc. were to come on a message board saying stuff like that, nobody would probably bat an eye (and notice, not many of THEIR fans even DO say things like that...the championships sort of speak for themselves).

I just think the FANS at that school seem to be "raising the bar" kind of high for their coaches by touting these kids as "the best" at their positions when they haven't even SEEN players from 95% of the teams in the state.

Okay, good numbers. But AGAINST WHOM!!? Primarily Single-A competition; and among many teams that would be considered in the BOTTOM-75 teams in the state (***berland, Pineville, Evarts, etc.).

If an AVERAGE 3A or 4A school were to play against the same schedule, THEY would likely put up the same or better numbers!

Conversely, if LC had to play against, say, the 3A district in Central Kentucky (LexCath, Harrison Co., Franklin Co., Jessamine schools, etc.), I think those gaudy stats would come down QUITE a bit.

Statistics can be VERY misleading. Remember, there are 1. Lies 2. Darn Lies and 3. Statistics!

Point being, go ahead and say how good you are RELATIVE TO YOUR DISTRICT, but to start comparing your kids to ALL OTHER KIDS IN THE STATE, be careful!

Who has seen the 95% of the teams in the state. Take a look at the All-State team. Most of which are voted on by people of their own area, or because they heard of them by signing with a big school like UK. Take North Laurel Chris Cessna for example, great football player, tons of talent, but makes the all state team and only played 2 to 3 games, why because he signed with UK. Just because a team wins the state doesn't mean that they have the best players at every position. There are several factors that contribute to a team winning a state title, that is one reason Lynn Camp did not. The line was not the reason LC didn't win the state. Is it a disappointment when don't win the state, sure as it should be for all but 4 schools. You set goals and the big goal at the end of the road is a state title. 2 years ago Lynn Camp made the state semi-finals, and last season many people felt that talent wise, that we were better than that season, and we could take that next step, but we didn't get it done. Of course it can be said teams like Danville have more of right to be disappointed, because they are powerhouses, they have been their before they have won it. But there was a day they were not that good. If you don't believe you can win every game that you play, than why bother playing.

That is a good point, but also the point of the class system in Kentucky High School football. It is tougher to play with 25 kids against 65 or 70, depth plays a huge key, when a team that can throw fresh bodies at you all night. Even the elite teams in the state have played very bad teams. Not everyone plays top ten teams every week.

Would have changed things for you if he said among the state? I do feel that Lynn Camp line as a unit is among the best in the state, but saying they are not because who they play or who they have not, or they are not because they didn't win the state title is also misleading, when this is just talking about a single part of the team. It takes more than lineman to win games and win a title.

linemen never get any credit. with out the line rb,qb,wr wouldnt be worth a crap. if u have a good line that jumps 5 or 6 yards off thet ball every run play thats aready 5 yards that the back do have to try to get there free.

Well i guess noone should ever post on here again since we havent saw every team in the satte play everyweek. Maybe 24-7 could write a rule book on what your allowed to say about ur team. Maybe if we all just started saying lynn camp was horrible and every other team is better even though they have some of the best numbers he will be happy. That line at lynn camp that averages 275 across the line isnt big and just because u rush for 5000 yards a season sont mean there good. Who cares if ther rb runs a 4.4 and is being recruited by everybody hes not a state contender even though he led class a in scoring. That linebacker who had close to 200 tackles wasnt anygood either.
