Early Top 10 for 2010-2011
#1
Michael Johnston predictions for the top 10 teams in the state for 2011:

1. Clark County
Coach Scott Humphrey returns two of the state's top prospects, seniors-to-be Vinny Zollo and Robbie Stenzel. Zollo, a 6-foot-8 forward, has scholarship offers from Dayton, Oklahoma State and South Florida. Stenzel also has received interest from several Division I schools.
The Cardinals also return two of the state's most underrated players, Jaylen Daniel and Travis Purvis.
2. Eastern
The Eagles return a slew of talented players, including seniors-to-be Remy Abell, Lyonell Gaines, Arman Marks, Kameron Woods and Jon Davis, who has already committed to play college football at Kentucky.
Abell, a 6-foot-3 guard, has scholarship offers from Akron, IUPUI and Wright State. Gaines and Marks should get their far share of attention from colleges as well. Woods, a 6-foot-7 center, is thin but he has a lot of upside. He's athletic and he's a force on the defensive side of the ball.
3. Christian County
Christian County will have to replace Shaquille Wilson but the Colonels return several key players from this past season's 2nd Region championship team, including leading scorers Anthony Hickey and Donovan Kates. Hickey averaged 15.3 points per game, while Kates added 15 points per game. Also back is Veontae Lewis, who averaged 12.6 points per game.
4. Lexington Catholic
Lexington Catholic must replace center Tanner Peurach but the Knights have several key players coming back, including one of the nations top juniors -to-be Jaylen Beckham. Beckham has scholarship offers from Depaul and Washington.
Also returning are seniors-to-be Taylor Martin, Scott Schuette and Seth Beckham.
5. Paducah Tilghman
Coach Brad Stieg returns the 1st Region's best player, Josh Forrest. Forrest averaged 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as a junior. Also returning J.D. Harmon and Trevonte Cole.
6. Seneca
First the Redhawks must find a new coach, after Steve Sergeant resigned in March. Whoever takes over the program will inherit a talented ball club, led by Kevin Shaw, Walter Alexander, Martez Harris and Michael Fluellen.
7. Warren Central
Warren Central only returns two starters from this past season's 4th Region championship team but when those two players are George Fant and Jordan Shanklin, you have a lot to build around. Fant averaged 15.7 points and eight rebounds per game last season. He has eight Division I scholarship offers.
Shanklin was one of the top prospects in the state when he was just a freshman. Injuries have slowed him down but if he can remain healthy this summer and during his senior season expect him to get interest from Division I schools.
8. Mason County
The defending 10th Region champion returns several key players from this past season's team, including leading Southern Illinois commit Treg Setty.
9. Scott County
The Cardinals lose Division I prospects Chad Jackson, Dakotah Euton and Ge-Lawn Guyn but coach Billy Hicks returns juniors-to-be Tamron Manning and Isaiah Ivey, who are two of the state's top players in the class of 2012.
10. Bowling Green
The Purple return the top player in the state of Kentucky, 6-foot-7 forward Chane Behanan. Behanan averaged 21.7 points and 11 rebounds per game as a junior.
