Mine is also trying to play 3 sports and before it's over he will probably not want to play all 3 not only because of the physical part of playing 3 sports but the mental part of playing 3 sports. Not only playing but, also the mental and physical rigors of preparing for 3 sports. His favorite sport is basketball. He wants to play AAU basketball but also has to Play summer baseball and spring football and go to passing tournaments. Now some people will say he doesn't have to do any of these things but, in today's sports climate he has to do these things if he wants to compete in all 3 sports.

My son faces the same dilemma and has ultimately dropped baseball due to what I believe was more mental overload that physical. Even with just two, there is much to juggle. The player, though not obligated, feels the pressure and desire to attend all weightlifting and passing sessions for football along with all conditioning and open gyms for basketball during the spring. For summer, you juggle the passing league with summer basketball (both AAU and school). The only real time off is the dead period. I agree that most of this is 'optional' but not really if you want to compete at a high level.

No games..(Only Baseball, if your team is still playing at that time) .. With saying this, I still think it would be okay for the coaches to have work out progams for the kids in all sports. I just don't see the need in playing basketball and baseball all summer. Both of these sports have JV teams....
