Holmes 79 Cooper 28
#1
Final.

Elijah Pittman led all scorers with 22 points despite only playing 10 minutes. He sat out the entire second quarter due to foul trouble and only played 3 minutes in the 3rd quarter.

Pittman also had probably one of the best dunks over a defender that I've ever seen....6'6 freshman Maniacci of Cooper tried to jump with Pittman to stop a break away dunk, Pittman rose up over him and tomahawked one down over him with one hand while also drawing a foul. Welcome to varsity basketball freshman...lol

Holmes Scoring:

Pittman 22 , Hayes 10, R. Johnson 8, Herndon 8, J. Johnson 7, Rice 5, Slusher 5, Stevens 4, Gray 4, Mayfield 2, Avery 2, Reese 2

Holmes: 32-15-18-14--79
Cooper: 12--5--6--5--28

Holmes improves to 14-5 on the season and will host Scott Saturday night.

Can a mod delete this thread? I accidentally posted the same thing twice.

12 players in the scoring column for Holmes, it is fair to say Henley at least at some point called the dogs off

I figured the Bulldogs would respond this way, I actually felt bad when I seen that Cooper was next up after the Ryle game. I think they came in, got refocused and took care of business the way everyone expected against a much weaker opponent in Cooper. Henley rarely lets the dogs put people away by more than 25-30, but I think he had to let them play a little more after the loss to Ryle. Henley is a class guy though and I am sure this could have gotten worse.

No starter played more than 15 minutes...Holmes starting 5 of Pittman, R. Johnson, J. Johnson, Slusher, and Rice combined for just 47 of Holmes 79 points.

Biggest difference from last game to this game was that Holmes had a little more freedom offensively throughout the game. Cooper zoned the entire game but Holmes moved the ball very well and attacked which led to many easy baskets. Holmes also didn't stand around like they did last game. They were constantly moving at both ends of the floor and their press really wore Cooper down.

BTW, Chris Hayes played very well tonight handling the ball.

I know Cooper isn't very talented but he single handedly broke the press and was lightning quick coming up the floor.

He's gonna be a stud for Holmes next year. He also showed some very nice hops tonight rising up over several players and getting tip ins.

Ok, I go to Cooper and was in the student section and I think this was the best game of the year!! We are all used to losing by now, it's no surprise, but we were glad to have some entertainment even if its at the loss of our players, haha!! Elijah Pittman played so sick - and when he dunked from like 6 feet out on our big freshman the whole house came down and went crazzzzzyyy! That wasn't the only dunk of the night, there was an alley-oop too. Holmes is good but Cooper's biggest problem is weak defense and giving up the ball. I didn't bother to count how many times a pass got stolen in the backcourt or at halfcourt. Also Holmes is so big they didn't even bother grabbing the offensive rebound they just tipped it back in!! At the start of the 2nd half they had pretty much all their starters out and by the 3rd quarter they had their girls team in. I think the coach made everyone touch the ball atleast once before making a shot after that.

The game was awesome, despite losing by 51, good job Holmes haha!!

Cooper is in the same region as Holmes. They are in the same district as Boone, Conner, and Ryle.

Their head coach, Tim Sullivan, is a former Holmes assistant and was the JV coach when this year's seniors (Pittman, Slusher, Herndon, Johnson Brothers) were all sophomores and Holmes lost to Mason Co in the state championship.

He is a big part why those players are what they are today.

Cooper is a new high school in Boone County. This is only their second year in existence.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure he has to go to a JC because of his grades... :yikes:

Pittman will likely attend a major JUCO then land at a high major D1 school.

Oklahoma really wants him to come out there to a JUCO near them so they can keep track of his progress then sign him after he completes the 2 year program.

Could end up taking the same route as Darnell Dodson of Uk though...Juco for a year then a major D1 program.
