Makes the matchup at Greenup Friday even more exciting. Looking forward to Russell coming to the Greenhouse.

Whats up with Stapleton and Alexander scoring a combined 3 points?? Did they not play much? I LOVE the way Stapleton plays! He is a old school baller.

Nice win for the Devils

Hunt played really solid and will only improve as he gets more comfortable as a starter. Skaggs and Hunt may be the next Phillip Cassity and Mike Doty!!
Going to be fun watching them over the next 4 years.

It's good to see Russell get this win. They've played well so far in a week where they really needed to.
It's apparent from the box score and the minutes played over the past few games that there is a "passing of the torch" going on so to speak. I think that is a good thing, though. They are starting 4 out of what will likely be next year's starting 5 in Skaggs, Hunt, McKenzie, and Davidson.
The good thing for Russell basketball is that Skaggs and Hunt are only freshmen and Davidson is a sophomore. It will be tough with as many good young players are on other area teams, particularly Ashland and Greenup, but I think Russell should start having a legitimate chance to win the region over the next couple of years.
The division of the Rose Hill transfers between Ashland and Fairview turns out to be a good thing for a team like Russell because if they had all stayed at or transferred to the same place, then they would have been the favorites to win the region over the next few years much like Elliott County was for several years in a row. That is, of course, if they all continue playing for who they are playing for now!
Russell still has the potential to pull an upset or two this year. We'll see how this new group continues to play together over the last few weeks of the season. Hopefully, the seniors can still provide a defensive spark where needed and hit a few timely 3's along the way.

I agree should be another heated battle between these district rivals.
