Bell County 41 - Lawrence County 0

bulldog42 Wrote:HOP you are dead on with this one! It's starting to take on a dead horse with this one. Both sides had a couple of people that embarassed their programs. What went on with that handful isn't what either program is about. Hopefully everybody involved learns from it. Both programs have a ton of tradition and a lot of great things going on. The game is no different than BGR. There are those that are full of class and those that embarass their proram. It's unfortunate that we usually remember the negative.
I tried to start a positive only thread to thank our Srs for everything they have done. It was titled 2009 and asked to only be positive. Instead it was changed to 2010 and a bash session.
I wish we could move on. Kids made major mistakes. Unless you have walked in the shoes of those of others then I caution you to pass judgement on them. A lot of kids would have never made it as far as those two have with the adversity they have battled. They got tossed from their last game ever and football is somewhat life to them. We will all learn from this and move on. They are our kids and we love them unconditionally!
Best of luck to Bell next week. I hope we can all quit running this into the ground!
I will say this. I was one of the harsh critics of this program after we (Knox) played them. The colorful hair, makeup, post game dancing, taunting, a few rude fans and other accusations from our players really made me question their coaching staff and the whole program. I had chalked them up as one hit wonders with no class.

But having seen the Bell game all that has unfolded afterwards, NOTHING could be further from the truth. This is a second year coach and staff that inherited not just a team but a program that was in shambles. THEY not only won 12 games in a row after a winless debut (never been done in KY before) but they dealt with a painful loss that produced situations that even the most experienced coaches might have struggled to handle. In that turmoil they have held the course that is often painful and difficult for any of us whether as parents, supervisors at work, or leaders on a battlefield: they have condemned the actions that were wrong, accepted responsiblity, and still stood by the ones who made the mistakes. In this they have proven they don't just excel at Xs and Os but they excel at serving their team as leaders. Leaders who are not simply there to revel in the victory - but who continue to lead and serve under the pressure of imperfection, loss, and crticism. Well done.

These coaches, the community there in LC, the school leaders and anyone connected to that program have NOTHING to be ashamed of. In the heat of battle things happen. You deal with them and move on with lessons learned serving as a compass for tomorrow. Great job on an amazing season. I would happily bring my son there to play for you anytime.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

This may be one of the finest posts I've read on any topic on any board.

Life presents great challenges, and we often deal with those challenges imperfectly. There are people I know who are going to look back on a moment in time Friday with plenty of sorrow and have determined that they will do all they can to set things right - even in a situation where that will prove very hard to do.

It takes a robot to never make a mistake; it takes a courageous young person to face a mistake and then try to make amends. It takes committed adults to try and lead that young person through that process.

Hopefully those who've been swift to anger and judge will be just as swift to forgive and allow young people the room to grow.

Have you ever played football ? What Dudley is talking about is totally different than a chop block. He was talking about tackling the kid low. Which every coach that knows football will tell their kid to do. You can't tackle a big running back up high he will break those tackles. A chop block is when someone is engaged with a player and then a team chops the legs out from under the defensive player.

Bell - great win, as usual. You guys rock. Good luck against Boyle. I'm making the trip.
LC - tough loss, hard way to end a great season. Still - great season.

For everyone else who continues to need to be beat the horse a bit more about the unfortunate incidents of Friday night - please start a thread entitled "More dirt please" so I and others will know what to dodge. Thanks!

Well said. Indeed - there is a huge difference. Runners like Pack cannot be tackled unless you wrap up and tackle his legs.

:Thumbs:I agree they wouldn't have like it of someone had done it to theirs. By the way it doesn't matter we kicked butt like we said we would and now we are ready to take on the Rebels.

Yes and I didn't say anything was wrong with it. The poster didn't suggest that LC was chop blocking.

Would it really matter if they destroyed 2 $5 peices of paneling. The bottom line is that they did. They have no control and really don't seem to care if they ever do. When you have players acting in the that manner you try to stop it and try to help it. You all are simply saying oh well it was really not that bad. IMO THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUT SOCIETY TODDAY TOO MANY PEOPLE SAY "WELL IT WAS NOT THAT BAD WAS IT?"

That is all BS. Clean-up your program or everyone will always be critical. And you as LC fans will always be defending your teams actions and take away from the great sucess and year you all had were it counts ON THE FIELD!

Those 2 announcers that were on the show basically said that every actions was just as much as Bell's fault as theirs. LC will never beat Bell with those type of actions.

I also watch the Lawrence county tv show and was shocked at the announcers. According to them this whole event started when a a pass interference call was not made. I have watched that particular play about 15 times from the Lawrence film and the the Bell film. If you watch it real close, #1-who really started the whole show by cussing our kids in pregame warm ups, touches the ball with his left hand and #7 from Bell, Matt Raines unloads. Simply that is a legal hit. Then they went on to say we slugged #50 and set him off, well let me tell you, Ipersonally saw #50 grinding, stomping, intentionally might I add, one of our kids hands in the ground on purpose, thank God it was one of our Frosh. or it would have got ugly because if it had been any of our starters they would have crushed him. Now the announcers did say # 50 actions were not approiate but Bell started the whole event. As for Coach Greer cussing kids, That didn't happen either. I heard him ask a couple of kids what was wrong with #50 and #1. As far as #1 ejection, the film does not show to me that he hit a ref but I can't tell from the film. I do know when he made the tackle on that play he took our QB to the track and cussed him all the way to the track and back, so that is quite possibly what got him in trouble since he had already been flagged once. Now I know some of you will say I am biased, which I am when it comes to the Bobcats but not when it comes to this type of behavior. Those kids did wrong, very wrong. I as a parent of a Bell player was astonished at the lack of control that the coaches attempted to have when those players went off.I Also saw on tape a incident on their sideline in the 4th qt. where #1 hit one of our players after he was ejected.

What's taken place atop Log Mountain has taken place, so lets move on from this entire subject all together.
