If You Had To Go Into the Military--What Branch Would It Be (and Why)?

If you had to go into the military (or heck--even if you didn't have to go into the military), what branch would you want to go into?

For me, I come from a long line of United States Marines.

However, as strange (or different as this may sound), I would also consider the United States Coast Guard. Something about that seems interesting.

What does the coast guard do?
It sounds cool..
I would be in the Air Force
just b/c i like planes and stuff and I wouldn't feel so bad about actually face to face shooting a person dead

The Coast Guard has many roles in war and in peace time.

Naturally, they patrol/guard our coast line.
They conduct search/rescue operations.
In war, at times, they act as an escort service for war and merchant ships.
They conduct indepth information on weather, hurricanes, etc.

Also--the Coast Guard isn't just ships, boats and the like--they have planes and numerous helicopter operations.

My freshman year I was in Betsy Layne's J.R.O.T.C program and it was Marines so I know a little about them and stuff and also my grandpa was in the Army but for me I'd prefer Coast Guard...

Umm Navy I really considered goign to the Navy after high school I talked to recruiters and everything and changed my mind cause mom got upset when I told her, I think it hurt her more than nehting

But about the coast guard I went on a cruise to the Bahamas last year and we was leaving Nassau Bahamas and you have to be a certain distance from cruise boats when they are leaving like if your on a smaller boat...well neways the coast guard was watching us and this little boat came really close to us well the coast guard chased them down and held machine guns on them and everything it was pretty cool
I was watching out of the window, it was a man his wife and 2 kids I dont think theymeant anything by it but still I think the reason they do it is B/C is terrorism afriad they was gonna try to blow us up

dude i had a friend on the cruise. she went there on Spring Break from Morehead...

well I went last year I left on December 31st and got back Jan 6th
We ported out from JACKSONVILLE FL and where we was at we could see the blimp flying over the stadium....I forgot what football game was going on I guess the championship game after I think about it
But we ported from jacksonville then went to Key West stayed a day then went to Bahamas and stayed a day and came back home
cruises are pretty fun I would like to go during the summer, but still in Key west in janurary it was hot and also in Bahamas was hot
But see when we went ot the bahamas people down there had jackets on and it was 85-90 degrees outside they said that it was cold outside and here we was in shorts and cut off tee shirts and sweating lol they said it was their winter I was like You would freeze to detah if you visited where we came from

I.m going into the air force after i graduate because they train you in computers so that u get paid more n those fields after u get out. They also dont do alot of the fighting like the other branches unless u fly the fighter jets and out f he 2000+ that r dead only 1 of them is from the air force

I would go into the Air Force because it just seems safer and a bunch of my friends and family served in that branch so if I had to go, I would go into the Air Force now and be with one of my best friends when she goes in here soon.

If you want the safest, then it would probably be coast guard....that's what I picked :thumb:

I would love to fly a fighter jet.. That would be so cool..
