4 stars? He's not even rated

^What he said.
Simmons is not rated by Rivals.com.

Not so sure about the 4 stars, but from that 40 time looks like he has some speed. As they say, can't coach speed.

Simmons has been timed in 4.38 seconds for the 40-yard dash. He has 25 tackles and six interceptions already during his senior season.

He might be fast, but so is everyone else in the SEC.

He may very well turn out to be a great player, but to take the next step in football, the staff is going to have to start recruiting and landing better talent

Agreed. I'm tired of hearing "he's a sleeper". Who cares, we are an SEC school with top notch practice facilities. Why aren't we pursuing highly regarded players such as the ones Alabama, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, etc. are? Do we just not feel that we shouldn't waste our time just because an elite team has also offered? I don't honestly know, but I would like UK to pursue better recruits. I for one am not satisfied with mediocrity.

UK need to get all the players they can, before Brooke leave in 2012. I think UK will go back to they way they use to be, when Joker take over.
The Rated is again High school kids. Playing in college is nothing like playing in high school.
Just take Notre Dame and Syracuse. The last 4 or 5 years they have top 25 classes comming in. Don't go by alot of the rated they give them.

Yeah maybe Notre Dame, but Syracuse with top talent?....you also have to look at Fla, Bama, LSU, USC, Texas, OK, Penn St...etc

Well the guy has speed. I really don't understand why we don't try to get higher rated players?
Scout has him as a 1 star. Rivals has him as a no star. He has been rated 4 star by 13 users though.

The Cats Pause reports today that Kentucky has a football commitment from Eric Simmons, a CB from Atlanta, Georgia. Simmons is a speedster, running a 4.38 40 and had offers from New Mexico and a host of Sun Belt schools, including MTSU and Arkansas State. He is another (repeat after me) âunder the radarâ player for UK and is the first CB that the Cats have taken in this class. Simmons becomes the 11th commitment for UK so far and is yet another Joker recruit from the state of Georgia, where he has had so much success.

Just to add to this point, UK was also recruiting Simmons' teammate and fellow CB Darius Robinson. Robinson committed to Cemson already and is a 4 Star prospect.
The kid has upside but he clearly is a consolation prize.

I apologize. He's not a 4-star, I read the ratings wrong on rivals.com. Either way, he does seem to be a speedy kid. Hopefully he keeps the UK defense strong and quick. Again, sorry for my mistake.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched the UK game. I think they don't persue them because they don't see big time players coming to Kentucky because they aren't as established as Bama, Florida, etc. and give up before they even try. UK's football program doesn't have the name to go along with it like the basketball program does so I feel they let other schools go after the big fish and they get those "sleeper" "flying under the radar" players that do not receive other big offers and are more likely to come to UK. We could at least offer to some better players or press hard to pick up those who aren't quiiiite good enough to play for a top 25 team but are still great athletes.

Add 3 Star ATH Ryan Smith from Cordova, AL. 6'2 190 with good speed. Plays QB and Safety right now, probably projects as a Slot WR or a DB.
