2012 Player Tidbits

By: Brett Blevins

Charles Foster, 6'0 PG from Trinity High School in Louisville, turned a lot of heads this summer. He is hearing from Xavier, Auburn, Oklahoma State and Oregon State. Foster is a top 150 type talent.

Devon Rowan, 6'7 250 lbs PF, is a strong bodied forward who is also receiving D1 interest. Rowan, from North Oldham High, has heard from Eastern Kentucky, Cincinnati, Wright State, Detroit, and Indiana State.

These are a couple names to add to the likes of Jaylen Beckham, Tamron Manning, and Isaiah Ivey, when discussing Kentucky's class of 2012. This trio played very well for their Hoop Dreams squad this summer.

One other name in 2012 that not a lot of people know about, but will hear about soon, is Jaleel Cousins. Jaleel, 6'8 250 lbs , is the brother of UK freshman Demarcus Cousins. The younger Cousins, who hasn't play the game that long, is still growing and he could surpass his older brother at 6'10. Look for him to explode upon the KY scene in 2009-10 playing for Tates Creek High School in Lexington.

I too look for Jaleel Cousins to be a name that everyone is familiar with this season. With the hype about his brother around the state and this Cousins' size, he should be a prospect in a couple of years. He is attending a high school that could get that publicity out there for him and he will be recruited when his time comes.

Cousins is still very raw from what I hear, but you can't teach size. I expect him to explode on the scene this year. Playing along side Ryan Fucci and Marcellus Barksdale will really help bring him along.

Tates Creek is going to be a very dangerous team this year in the 11th region and statewide.
