Who are the coaches you all think are on the hot set and who do you think will replace them? Also, if your school could have any coach who would you take?
I look for Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas Tech to all be looking for coaches after this season. Miami and Notre Dame because of lack of performance and Texas Tech will lose Leach after this season in part because of the contract struggles last season.

Oh Did The Orange Fire Him?

They fired him with 2 games left last year. Rich Rodriguez hired him as defensive coordinator.

Louisville, Marshall University, and possibly Notre Dame. Auburn already has a new coach.

Kragthorpe's future will rely on his success or lack there of against UK and the success of Petrino at Arkansas in my opinion. I do believe that he is a good mid-level coach, but I don't think that he is a good fit for Louisville and vice versa. I also think that Weis is all but gone at Notre Dame, the media is hyping up this team as vastly improved and with all the returning straters on the roster it will be hard to keep a coach that has never won with the players that he recruited. Miami's coaching position will be saved only if the Hurricanes can make a serious run at the ACC and show vast improvement over last year. Three straight top 10 recruiting classes has to pay dividends eventrually. I also believe that a icon will hang it up this year, Bobby Bowden will probably retire after this season as his quest to out win Paterno took a hit with NCAA sanctions and FSU having to pay Jimbo Fischer an $8 milliion buy-out if he is not the headcoach by I believe 2010. I look for other big name coaches to possibly be on the move as well. Like I mentioned before I do not believe that Mike Leach will stay at Texas Tech after the debacle that was his contract extension talks following last season and other major universities' interest in him. I believe that the university president has damaged the relationship between the administration and Leach and he'll bolt to the highest bidder. Look for Colorado to make a change as well if Hawkins doesn't show improvement with the Buffalos. Sure they were rock bottom when he took over, but this team has had success in the not so distant past and I feel that the wide open Big 12 north is a winnable division and the university will give him a chance or else this year or next. Rutgers is another program that MAY be looking for a new coach depending on what else happens around the NCAA. It has been widely rumored that Schiano wants the Penn State job and even though his prestige has fallen a bit should be the front runner should Paterno finally retire following this season. This wouldn't be a "big time" job, but would be a mid-level job that could impact big-time programs with them losing assistants.

Hot Seat (teams must have huge season to save job):
- Steve Kragthorpe, UL... has been disaster so far
- Charlie Weiss, Notre Dame.... lot of hype with little results
- Mike Sherman, Texas A&M... they may be the 5th best program in Texas now.
- Mark Snyder, Marshall... been there for a while now and the Herd still aren't competitive in C-USA.
Warm Seat (teams must show improvement to help their case)
- Gene Chizik, Auburn.... he is a temporary hire IMO anyway.
- Lane Kiffin, Tennessee... just because he has been so vocal and in the National spotlight.
- Mike Stoops, Arizona... Big name, little results thusfar.
- Greg McMackin, Hawaii... His off-color comments didn't help his case.
- Randy Shannon, Miami... Continues to recruit well, but Hurricans have not been a National Factor.
- Rich Rodriguez, Michigan... If they improve and get back to a bowl all will be well, but if they struggle again like last year it could be ugly in Ann Arbor.
Seat Warming (Well known coaches who could see their seat warm up in a hurry)
- Mark Richt, Georgia.... Been very successful but last year's failure as #1 and their inability to beat Florida doesn't help. Lose again to GA Tech and it gets hotter.
- Bobby Bowden, FSU.... Just hanging on for the coaching record, pretty obvious they want Jimbo Fisher to take over before they have to pay him all that money.
- Ralph Freidgen, Maryland... Took their program to new heights, but seems they have plateaued.
- Dave Wannstedt, Pitt... Pitt hasn't seemed to become a national power as many expected when he came on. They haven't been bad, but they haven't been great.
- Steve Spurrier, South Carolina... Another average season for SC could start raising eyebrows as Spurrier has now been there for a while.

I don't see Weiss on the hot seat. Even-though this is Notre Dame, he has been getting tremendous support from the boosters. Though they expect to win, I still think he has at least two more years of mediocrity before they call for his head.
As for Bowden, I believe he is there for as long as he wants to continue coaching. Which, if Joe-Pa continues to coach, so will Bobby.

Weiss- He no longer can use the excuse of having Willingham's players that he has hid behind for the past couple years. This is his team, and solely his. Heck, he even threw his coordinator under the bus last year and took over the offense (which still was far from prolific). Nearly every national media outlet or bathroom rag has projected a BCS Bowl for Notre Dame, Lou Holtz has announced Notre Dame goes undefeated and plays Florida for the National Title. Lou is senile, but everyone is talking about that prediction and justifying why it is possible. If Notre Dame has another .500 season against a weak schedule with a team expected to be playing in a BCS game, it is bye bye Weiss. Boosters will always pay money at Notre Dame, but they will choose who that coach is who will be receiving that money. Plus, the national fi***ion with Weiss will cause so many rumblings that it will double the ammount of pressure.
Bowden- Jimbo Fisher's "Coach in Waiting" Contract clearly states that if Bowden is not gone after 3 seasons from when Fisher was announced that FSU has to pay him some outragous amount of money (looked it up and his buyout is 2.5 million) and that he can pursue other openings. The only reason Bowden is still coaching is so he can pass Paterno. Don't believe that? Well FSU is petitioning the NCAA to GIVE UP SCHOLARSHIPS instead of TAKING AWAY HIS WINS! Once again... FSU would rather handicap their chances in the future of ever winning a National Title then give up meaningless wins in mediocre seasons in the past couple years! If you are a Trustee for FSU would you rather have your coach retire as the winningest head coach if it meant you won't be competitive towards a National Title for the next 10 years and you lose your Stud young coach to a school you have to recruit against, all the while paying hm millions of dollars? That's why Bowden's days are numbered. Click the link below to see the article outlining Fisher's deal.
