How will Calipari's Hire Affect Ky Recruits

(ala almost everyone these days). Most of your better players have been held back. 19 year old seniors are not rare around the sports nation. There are exceptions though.

Also, something people don't realize is how athletic he is and how he can jump-he hasn't had to show that part of his game yet because he get's by defenders so easily. Maybe Cal should take notice!

Jarrod Polson will play college basketball, but he is not Calipari material.

Does anyone know if Polson played any AAU ball this spring/summer?

Apparently Ricardo Johnson of Holmes can:

Ricardo showed the ability to pull up for accurate mid-range jumpers but his outside shot was a little streaky. He is athletically gifted and uses that ability to finish well in traffic, even if he gets a few bumps along the way. Ricardo’s at his best in transition, where he can find the lanes and explode down them. He told me that he plans on trying to improve all parts of his game in order to become the most well-rounded player that he can be. Butler, Bradley, Xavier, Oklahoma State, Wright State, Mississipi State and South Florida are showing interest, with Bradley on the board early with an offer. Memphis had sent him letters while Cal was there but have not yet been in contact since Cal made his switch to UK.

Ky boys will not see the light of day with Cal, well unless they are ranked 20th or higher in the nation.

You'd be surprised...the best senior in the state is usually going to be good enough to play there year in and year out.

Also as I stated earlier, Coach Cal has already been in contact with Ricardo Johnson so apparently there is a player or two out there good enough to see the light of day with Cal. :eyeroll:

Isnt Hood a Gillespie recruit? Do you guys honestly think that Rico J will play for UK? I would be more than shocked if hie did. Like I said, ranked 20th or higher in the Nation, not 20th or higher in Ky. I would be more than happy to see a full homegrown roster. Any body that makes it from a Ky highschool to playing for Cal and UK would be awesome, dont get me wrong.

Hood is a good player, a Cal player? Maybe not. But hopefully I'm wrong. The scholarship was already offered when Cal got there, so Hood was coming to UK whether Cal wanted him to or not.

Wrong. Calipari could have rescinded his scholarship.

He was recruiting Ricardo BEFORE he became the coach of UK, so the homegrown arguement is out the window. And Calipari only has two top 20 recruits coming in, in this six player class.

My bad, I thought Hood has already signed or something.

And yes, UK only has 2 top 20, but they have 4 top 23 and those in the top 20 happen to be the top 2.
